Alternative treatments/procedures...

I am almost terrified to post here at all again...........

I suffer from another medical ailement then CH's;  that is one of the reasons I sought out a Chiropractor.  I, even at a young age was concerned with putting even more drugs into my system to combat the pain of a CH.  My Chiropractor is NO QUACK as far as I am concerned, neither is the acupuncturist that I go to!  The pain I experience and have to work through daily that I get from these CH's is brutal (as you all know very well, I am sure).  I decided a long time ago to try every and anything that might help.......That doesn't mean that I know nothing, that the professionals who help me know nothing.

I realize that some people are simply more opinionated then others.....but to belittle someone over their beliefs, or over the treatments that they have sought out to help battle their pain is just plain wrong.

I AM a good, decent person who suffers pain constantly who came to this 'board' to share my views, and to seek comfort from others....The same way I go to other boards to speak about my other ailment.

Well.....thanks for listening (reading).  I am going to go and cry now.....and not over the pain in my head.

Pam,
I am sorry your first experience here has not been a good one.  You learn to develop a thick skin though when you are here.  The people here are good compassionate people, who try very hard to keep other ch'ers from being taken advantage of.  Sometimes they come off as a bit brusque.  But they truly do mean well.

Not everyone here is on the meds.  I have 3 reasons why I am not on the meds.  1) none that I have tried have worked 2) I have no insurance anymore and 3) I feel that the side effects are not worth it.

I too rely on distraction and things like ice packs, heating pads, hot showers, and tabasco to get me through.  I have had CH for about 33 years.

(I often get on the computer when I am in pain to distract myself.  I was a single mother for a long time and HAD to cope one way or another, so I am able to function fairly well all the way up to an K8)

This is THE place to find out just about anything that has ever been known or even rumored about CH.  And you are not the first to go the chiropractic route, but may be one of the very few that it has worked for.

Welcome, keep an open mind and realize that these people are also in pain.

Thank you both for your well wishes.  THAT is exactly why I stopped to read about this site and became a member of it.

Best wishes to you as well in finding some (at the very least) relief from your pain.

Pam,

I'm not sure what I can say that the other posters haven't.  I'm sorry you got off to a bad start w/ this site.  I've only been involved w/ this site for a little over 2 months and what I have found in that short period of time is that everyone wants the best for other sufferers.  We are all strong individuals which means that everyone has strong opinions too.  No one wants to be pain and everyone wishes they had a magic wand to wave over the entire site.  I'm glad you had the courage to post again - we are all here for you.

Keep the faith,
