It made me feel as though I had the flu. It also did nothing to help my CH, maybe because I am chronic.

Dear Nancy: Sorry you're having it bad right now. I started on 500mg depakote and after five weeks when it did nothing neuro upped it to 1000mg daily. I did that for 2 weeks. Sorry to say - did nothing. Actually, I think I got worse. I posted elsewhere on this board about how after taking the meds my cycle went completely out of control. Instead on the 2 hits per day that I was used to getting I started getting 5-8 hits a day of varying intensities. I have no proof that it was the meds, but I feel it in my gut. I had the neuro give me a taper schedule and ate my last depakote yesterday. I am now back to 2 hits per day. As for the side effects: No rash. Sometimes queasy. Food has no appeal whatsover, not because of the queasiness but because my tastebuds are shot. Tired. Bitchy. Moody. Also nightmares (that is,when I actually got to sleep). Good luck to you and wishing you PFDAN always, Linda T.

My dr is starting me on depakote today. 250mg twice a day. I'm really scared of the side effects, but I'm desperate for help. This cycle has been going on for 16 weeks now and I want it to STOP. My annual cycles usually only last 4-6 weeks. Has anyone had any success on depakote? And not had any nasty side effects? I'm going to post this as a new topic also. PFDAN to all! SusanM

Sorry to hear you are not having any luck with the depakote Nancy. I saw in another post you are going to try the aracept (sp?) I pray it works for you. I am guessing you have gone through all the usual meds like verapamil, etc...so I wish you well and some PFDAN'S
