I am on Depakene (valporic acid) which is a short acting depakote...Depakote is the sustained release . I have noticed alot of folks say Depakote does not work for them...Have any of you tried the Valporic acid (Depakene)? My neuro started me out on 250mg...and I add 250mg per 5 days till I get to 2,000mg. I am on 500mg now along with verap 480mg and will soon add Doxepin ..Verapamil used to work for me alone but it stopped working..I am chronic...This combo seems to be working for me. One of our Docs here on the mb suggested I try the short acting and I am glad I did...Just a thought but just like Dr. Goadsby recommends the short acting verapamil, maybe it is the same with the short acting valporic acid...My pharmacist says that depakote was made to avoid some of the stomach upset you get with depakene...Mine is a gel like cap.... ;D
