Just started taking 6 mg a day wondering what to expect? Also taking 1000 mg depakote daily and have lidocaine but haven't tried it yet. Anyone have any success with the samsert or lidocaine?

Lidocaine did exactly zero for me. My neuro gave me a prescription for it after I whined for a while, but he warned me that it almost never works for clusterheads, and even for the few for whom it does work, it loses its effectiveness after a few weeks at most.

He was even MORE reluctant to prescribe Sansert. He has found that it is rarely effective for clusterheads, though he did say that it had a better track record with his migraineur patients. He calls it "the medication of last resort". But, at the time I had no medical insurance and was rapidly going bankrupt from paying full pop for Imitrex and Zomig (I hadn't yet found a preventative that worked -- this was before I had heard about psilocybin mushrooms as a treatment) so I bullied him into prescribing Sansert.

Yikes! That stuff made me downright STUPID, even at the starting dose of 2 mg a day. By the time I had worked up to 4 mg a day I was a drooling zombie. I LITERALLY could not remember my girlfriend's name. Pissed her off, let me tell you! I can't imagine what 6 mg a day would have been like.

Since it was doing nothing at all to relieve my CH, and I was afraid I might injure myself in my zonked-out state, I stopped taking the stuff. I probably still have the bottle around somewhere.

I never experienced the leg pains or numbness of the fingers that is commonly reported, and I didn't stay on it long enough to develop irreversible fibrosis, but there are some pretty scary posts in the archives of some who have had those difficulties.

Many, many others have posted here about bad side effects from Sansert (go to the archived posts and use the "search" button), but there are also some who have taken it for cycle after cycle and swear by it.
