Well it's been 10 days now of one 50mg Doxepin capsule at bedtime and I can report that Doxepin is NOT 100 percent effective. I'd have to say that Doxepin is about 95 percent effective in preventing my CH. As I stated in a previous post, before Doxepin, I'd normally get 2 to 5 CH a day with one of those lovelies usually waking me up at night for an hour or so. Since taking Doxepin, I have had only 4 CH in 10 days and zero CH during the night. That's probably because the Doxepin is at its highest concentration at night as I take it right before bed. And the 4 CH that did manage to sneak by the Doxepin were mild in comparison to pre-Doxepin CHs. (Pre-Dox CH were about an 8 on the Kip scale. Post-Dox CH have been about 4 on the Kip scale.) An added benefit is that my prescription insurance made my co-pay for Dox less than $3.00 out of my pocket for 30 pills vs. $30.00 for 6 pills of any of the Triptans. I'll post more as we go along...Pete

Dear Pete, I am glad to hear of your initial sucess!!! I will continue to pray all goes well for you and you continue to be pain free. This will be wonderful if we get another medicine to add to our defenses that has potential to work.
