prednisone didn't work, NO pain reliever helped at all. So I found your site. God bless you all. Found posts on Melatonin and figured nothing else helped, so I tried it. Just the 300mcg cheap $2.00 stuff. Took one tablet 4 hours before the scheduled headache, (9:30 P.M. E.S.T.). The headache still came at the appointed time, but the pain was greatly reduced!! Not just better, tolerable! Forgot to take it Wednesday, took it about 1.5hrs. before 9:30, headache BAD. Still drinking alot of water, no beer (DAMMIT), And long hot showers, but I think the Melatonin helps the pain somehow. But only if I take it 3 to 4 hours before I usually get the headache.

Glad to hear the melatonin is working. I read the posts too and decided to give it a shot. I started yesterday. I took 9mg around 8 pm (EST). I usually get the ch between 10p and 11p. I never thought about taking it 4 hours in advance. Nevertheless, it didn't work for me . Got hit at 10p last night (pretty bad), 4am (although that one was not too bad) and again at 8am (not too bad but not great either, since I don't usually get them at 8am). I'm still hoping. I know the article said it took 2 days. Also, I am taking 300 mg depakote and will take imitrex if pain gets too bad. PFDAN. Linda
