I have noticed disrupted sleep patterns around and during cluster cycles. I also wonder about the relationship these headaches have with serotonin, since some sufferers get relief with serotonin uptake inhibitors. Anyway, I have found Melatonin helpful in restoring better sleep patterns and alowing me to sleep more during these times. I take 5 or 6 miligrams about 30 to 45 minutes before I want to sleep. You can get this dose from your pharmacist. It is not prescription, but that is usually a bigger dose that the stuff they keep on the shelf. I'm not sure, but I think the melatonin may help shorten my cycles.

There has been a lot of discussion of late about melatonin for clusters. Someone, I think Bob maybe, even posted an article about ch and mela. You should do a search for it by typing it into the search button above if you want to learn more. I don't know about you or anyone else...but if I take melatonin and do not lay down and/or fall asleep immediately, I vomit. I think that my body is just so sleep deprived that the melatonin makes me overly tired and I get sick as a result. But it also makes me wonder if maybe I am hypersensitive to it because my body naturally produces so little or something. I don't know....but it is surely an interesting topic. Peace and love, Georgia
