ANY Suggestions on what to try next?

I am going to go to the University of Charleston Medical College to see a new neuro...been thinking of some options I may have.  Will be goin on medical leave as of friday. I am on verap 720mg now and it is not working. Verap used to work for me...I am chronic...I had a bad reaction to prednisone...Topamax at a high dose worked  for me but then it made me real depressed and suicidal.  Tried Lithium years ago but dont think i took it long enough.  Hearing that depakote is not really effective.  So where do i go from here?  I dont want to be on another med like Topamax that takes away your quality of life...I felt like a zombie on it...but I want this pain to stop...any suggestions for me...thanks...

Did you read the message yesterday on melatonin by our Doug W?  I can't find it today.  Undecided

I don't know where it was posted, but if you haven't read it,  he was talking about (and this is bad but I THINK he said 9mg before bed ) was a trial that worked for a few people.

Must find his message for accurate info, and the research article he posted,  but it might be something to look into.

Could it be that simple?

Wouldn't give up on the Verapimil just yet.    The Indocin 75mg times 2 has done me good and seems to be the magic combo, this time, and I know it won't work next time.  But I am not Chronic.  Please keep me posted on what you do.  Each episode keeps getting worse, and longer.  This website has been a big support for me, thanks to all.  No one could truely understand a run-in with the Beast unless the experence is there.  I'll be here.

Nancy, I recall a discussion on the OUCh-UK board. Simon said adjusting  his Vera dose downwards gave relief, and some people agreed with him.

Phasing down your Vera dose might be a good thing anyway, if you are going to ask for Lithium.

Hope something works for you Embarassed

David, thanks for the info but maxalt does not do a thing for me...imitrex injections are the only thing that works...and ave, i tried Simon's theory and strangely enough, i have had mild hits in the day but hit bad during the nite...but it has improved since i went back down to 480mg...thanks alot...i had an email from Dr. Goadsby's assistant, Dr.Matharu the other day....he is looking to see if he can find me a good neuro here in SC...had several options at the Medical University but dont want to decide till I hear back from him...thanks everyone, you are great....

hey nancy,

how about amerge? i know it's very expensive, but  some one on this board told me to take mine before bed and that really helped me get a night's sleep.  it's when the beast wakes you up, it's the worst.  if your insurance is like mine they only paid for 1 pill of amerge a day for me anyways. (sh**heads)  i'm praying for you
