Metoprolol tartrate

I'm an old futz who's been episodic for 41 years. Besides a jolt of morphine a few decades back, nothing has worked as either an abortive or a prophylactic. The 'phine was pure delight until it faded and the ch returned with an equally pure, white-hot vengeance. A recent blood pressure check at the local VA clinic showed a monster 180/90. The doc prescribed metoprolol tartrate, 50mg, twice daily. This salvo of headaches disappeared completely after three days and that was three weeks ago. No side effects, either. Hey, I'm just sayin...

I took a beta-blocker, prescribed by a new age, experimenting, friend-of-man doctor in 2006 that made me quite sick --and I pulled away from it. IT may be that my blood pressure is on the low side (as I have chosen through dietary means) and that beta-blockers are for lowering blood pressure, but beta-blockers don' work for normally healthy types like I am. | Did someone question who you are? Just wondering.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

In the mid '90's a Dr. put me on Toprol as a cluster preventive. It worked great for a few years. The beast is devious though and found a way around it. She also had me on Midrin as an abortive, not so good. usually took an hour or three to work.
