ANYONE KNOW OF A GOOD NUERO IN DALLAS AREA?

PCP will not give me a Rx. for O2, says I need to see a Nuero. Anyone know of a good one? The last one I saw was ok but not that knowledgeable about CH. She was also very passive on the treatment options. I am so sick of the whole wait and see/trial and error attitude I have recieved from docs over the last 5 years. I need someone that knows what the hell they are doing!

Trooper I can usually get an appointment within 1 week at the Houston Headache Clinic. I have met a couple of people in the waiting room that have flown in from Dallas. They gave me o2 on my first visit weather I wanted it or not! Superdave

Thanks guys. Houston is not that far fetched. I grew up there and all of my family still lives there.

Thanks for the invite Superdave! Ya know I started thinking about what you said this morning and it kinda scared me. If Cluster Heads from Dallas are going to Houston for treatment, what does that say about the docs. we have up here?

Trooper...I live in Fort Worth & have seen 2 Neuros & 1 doc (not a neuro) on the ouch list. Here's my exp. in a nutshell: 1. Pushed topamax...over and over again...even after I told him it was no longer effective. 2. Second, i caught rolling his eyes when describing the pain. 3. Wanted me off of all meds & just doing PT. Currently under the care of a Pain Management specialist, and he is willing to: A. LISTEN B. Has done his research on the condition since i've become his patient. C. Makes sure that I have the meds needed to help ease the pain. Currently on: Lithium Carbonate, clonazepam (back on it), and writes as much Rxs for Imitrex as i want & a pain med that i use as needed (good for KIP 7s and below). Good Luck on your search!

Just to clarify - the OUCH list is a list of doctors recommended by MEMBERS. They don't apply to go on the list, OUCH doesn't know about them beyond the fact that we, as members, try to help each other out following good experiences. If you have a doctor to recommend then email OUCH US with it and similarly, if you have seen one who wasn't much help then let OUCH know that too. I hope that helps clarify it! Helen
