Lidocaine (Anestacon, Xylocaine)

Hi everybody, looks like I'm back again. I think emotional stress brought this on but who knows? Has anyone here had any success with Lidocaine (Anestacon, Xylocaine) nose drops? I have a little 02 left from two years ago. I am going tomorrow to the welder's supply house to get a tank and have a welder I called in the phone book set it up for me since I don't have insurance. He said I was not the first person he has done this for. A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to buy 5 E tanks from someone's mother who died and they were full. I'm gonna ramp up on my water intake, Magnesium and kudzu. I was kind of hoping by now they had a cure for these things

| Yeah. Trouble is, there's a new cure here every week or so--but none of them actually works. Sounds like you're getting properly armed for another go-around. Hope this one is easier than most, and soon over. Best wishes, George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)

I tried lidocaine nose drops in the early 80's, a 4% solution, dropped down the nostril of the affected side while I dangled my head backwards off the bed! The best it ever did was ramping it down maybe two clicks on the KIP scale and it almost always made me barf from the run off into my tummy! I have much better luck with my oxygen, so glad to hear you're lining it up. Do you have any preventative medications that you take? I use 1200 mg of lithium while I am on cycle, it blocks 80-90% of my hits, the oxygen and occasional imitrex jab control the rest. So sorry you're back, good luck with the 02! Guiseppi

Verapamil is the first line prevent for many. Lithium, Topamax, Depakote and Neurontin are a few others. Lots of people require polypharmacy to kick it to the curb. Verapamil and Lithium is a common one-two punch. Initiating a prednisone taper at the same time you start your regular prevent is a good way to stop the attacks while ramping up on the preventative. Talk with your doctor before starting any treatment.

Sorry I don't have much to add. I tried lido, and it didn't seem to help me at all. Tried dropping it in upside-down in the manner Guiseppi described, and tried using a nasal sprayer. Neither worked for me, but I've read others have had some luck with it. Really just wanted to add.... Get the O2! If it's been a couple of years, maybe see about getting a good (or at least new) mask to go along with it. Hoping you have a short cycle, Adam
