Coming off Topamax

I stopped my cycle on December 8.  That was the night of my last ch.  I was taking 125 mg topamax and 9 mg melatonin at the time.  On dec 20 I began tapering down on the topamax and melatonin per doc's orders.  I went to 100mg topamax and will go down 25 mg every three days.  Im going down on the melatonin at about the same rate.  Im now at 75 mg topamax.

It just seems that every morning i wake up with a heavy head.  This morning I woke up with what feels like minor shadows....kinda.  Im always cracking my neck.  And i feel sleepy and just thick headed.  I don't know if it's getting worse.  I still have no signs of ch though.  It doesnt stay with me throughout the day.  Ill drink a red bull...some water and some coffee and ill feel better.  Ill get the heavy head back in the afternoon.  feel sleepy again.
Is this just the topamax?  Its just hard to tell if its really over. I plan on doing the "beer test" on New years eve.

has anyone had any experiences with topamax withdrawal?  Thanks-Reg    Wink

I would stay with melatonin so that you continue to sleep well.

Topomax was just a nightmare 4 me so I don't have any advice.

good luck

I was in a cloud with the topamax.  It was hard to tell if sometimes I was having a shadow or I was just feeeling dopey from topo.  I think next time ill try the "natural" route at the first sign of ch.

Update.  My head is feeling much better now.  Im down to 50mg topamax.  Almost off

it's interesting...
my life became so much better when i came off of all the meds. i experienced so many adverse effects and was still having a high rate of attacks so i tapered of all.
i have been med free for almost 2 yrs and have had a relatively easier ride with exception to hospitalization in july.
I figure with this chronic CHit, I atleast should have my faculties if i am not gonna be pf.

no complaints as it was the best move 4 me
