extra imitrex

Okay, I may be getting in trouble here.... I have lots of extra imitrex injectables. Alot are expired but not for very long. I can't bear to throw them away, knowing that there are so many out there that could benefit from it. I am not a CH sufferer but my husband is. The last time he went through a cycle was last July and it lasted about 2 weeks... He is about to turn 65 and it looks like the cycles are slowing down.... He's been suffering since he was in his 30s. Mean while, I'm a military retiree and get it on base for free. After 5 years of going through all kinds of hassles, (We've been married 5 years.... In fact initially, I married him so that he could have a military ID card. While we were dating, I did witness a cycle and oh man, it scared the heck out of me. At the time, I asked him if he would not beable to get this medication, what would happen? His reply was that he would probably kill himself because the pain is unbearable without it. He did not have any medical coverage and he had a small plastic bag of expired boxes...... Long story short.... we got married, he got his ID card and after a lot of hassles the scripts went from 4 boxes per month, to 6, to 8, and then finally 15. Anyway, since he hasn't had any visits with the beast in so long, I stopped picking up the monthly perscription several months ago because we have too much and didn't seem necessary to stock pile so much. Any body want some? I know this isn't legal and my husband specifically didn't want me to do this..... His fear is that some one might end up with a stroke or worse and then could be traced back to us..... Okay, very risky but like I said, I can't bear to throw this stuff out because to some, I know the stuff is like gold. - A supporter that really cares- Jill PS. Wishing for all out there PF days and nights... PSs. My first ever post but have been a frequent visitor from the time I met my husband! Email address: jillemain@hotmail.com

It is not legal to transfer medications like that. I suggest keeping the meds wrapped in a paper bag, so it doesn't see any light, and keep it in the refrigerator. Don't throw away that precious liquid gold. You never know if the beast will change it's mind and your hubby goes back into cycle and you get delayed seeing a doc for a new script.

Yes, it's not legal--but that's why the "instant message" icon hides below our name (left).

I thank all of you that replied. I knew I would receive the responses that were posted. Definitely, they were politically correct. My goal was accomplished though... and don't worry.... I will never throw any away... Come to think of it, I might as well start going to the base to pick up my grocery size bag full EVERY MONTH just incase - As we all know this thing can be unpredictable. (Now, it's my turn to be politically correct.) It's my butt - however my heart over rules.

I know what you mean! But hey, I did discover something, tons of these sealed boxes were accidentally left behind when I had that big party at my house awhile ago! They are all perfectly good in mint condition and have been in my nice and dark and dry closet. The only problem is that, I don't know where to USPS them to! Obviously, they are free since (who ever you are with the perscription) actually already own them. All I am hoping for is the reimbursement for the postage costs. I'll get them out to you right away, okay? And guess what? Snow, sleat or rain (or whatever) can't stop me cuz the post office is right down the hill about a block! Yesterday, we had a snow storm here in Maine and I had a few boxes, that were all taped up (very secure ) and well, Rather than carry it, I placed it in a big heavy duty plastic garbage bag and slid it down the hill through the snow. I probably looked rediculous but hey, I don't care! What matters is the Relief It Brings! Wishing you all PFDANs and ofcourse, if that is not possible - quick aborts with Relief!! - Jill

I'm sorry. The last thing I wanted to do was offend anybody. I'm a newbie. I don't know %$#@. I'm not a CH sufferer. I'm just a supporter only. When my husband is being visited by the beast, I cry and wish that I could be visited instead, so that he could rest and not suffer so -- also so I could feel and know what it is like. This way I could really understand. As much as I wish it to happen, it doesn't. So I will never really understand. It is so awful to see him suffer and not beable to do anything. I guess I sounded like a real ass hole, earlier about being in the snow. I just wanted people to be okay with this and happy, well, I guess it's not okay, nor happy at all. Again, I am truly sorry. Jill

Jill bear with us. Sometimes we may sound cranky if we're getting hit or whatever but you know - we're not that bad really (okay I am but the others are pretty decent!) I'm sure there's a lot we can do to support both your hubby AND you - because we like supporters here! Hoping everything remains pain free at your house! Helen
