Imitrex 4mg vs 6mg

Hi There, thanks for letting me in to your message board, what a knowledge collection !!!

I have seen that in the USA the Imitrex is available in 4mg dose.

http://www.migrainehelp.com/4.about_imitrex/4.2.taking_imitrex/4.2.4.imi trex_injection.html

I have seen topics about mods of the Imitrex pen to change dose, therfore I am thinking, why modify when a smaller dose is available?

Does anyone have experience in using the 4mg dose or in general smaller dose of the Imitrex?

Thanks for the knowledge this board has provided me Smiley

Hiya

In the uk we cant get it like that (well it seems very hard to get) so i use a syringe and draw from the refill from the pen and i does at 3.5 -4mg and it works great, i could cope with the side effects of 6mg and was using it twice a day and it was too much.
But with the 4mg it works the same for the ch but no side effects

Hope that helps and welcome to the board,

tell us a bit about your self

Hello Molle:

I use the vials that allow you to draw it up into a syringe.  I routinely use 3mg and it aborts a headache for me.  I don't like the statdose pen because of the lack of control of the medication and the fact that it bruises me every time.

Wishing you well,

Ray

My neuro was giving me 4mg samples for a long time and I loved them!  Almost perfect dosage.  3 mg is perfect for me, incycle, but the 4mg pens are so convenient.  I don't travel without them.

Thanks for the feedback Smiley

In Denmark we can only get the 6mg for the statdose pen.
Not the 4mg and not in vials only one product to choose Sad Are the 4mg and vials available in Europe somewhere?

Can I shoot the statdose into a empty vial and after draw it up into a syringe or what is the easy way to split the 6mg statdose into 2x3mg?

"AloneUK" how can I draw from the refill ?

Thanks again
