i am in the midst of my third cycle... had my first about 5 years ago... anyways, i will cut to the chase, my two previous cycles lasted a whole lot less time than this... and i think their mysterious ends may have coincided with my recreational use of psychedelic mushrooms ... anyways, i grew up a little bit, lost my connections to these things... and this time around, i am on topamax which has my typical RAZOR SHARP wit about as dull as .... see .... cannot even think of something dull... did a predisnone taper... they came back STRONG right after it was over... topamax ever since. going to try the RC seed treatment. hopefully it will have the same effect as mushrooms (maybe) have in the past. also: has anyone else ever developed a nasty dependence on OTC decongestants while in cycle??? yeah yeah yeah i know ... DONT DONT DONT!!! i'm workin on it.... going to have to part ways with a family doctor who is turning out to be incompetent... heh.... sorry for the ramblyness first paragraph'ish is the part i wanted to share.

Welcome! Sorry you had to find your way back here. I've been treating this cycle of mine with RC seeds, and have had just incredible results. Since about my 4th or 5th dose, I haven't had ANY signs of CH. You should definitely check out the clusterbusters web site. There's a lot of good info there. Here's the link: http://clusterbusters.com/ Best of luck to ya!! Adam

check out the clusterbuster.com site i was in the same boat. I had been a recreational shroomer and was probably aborted some of my cycles without even knowing it. Now that Im all grown up I'm on dopamax..er...topamax. A whopping 125 mg a day. so I spend my days searching for words and phrases. I would have gone the other route but I was already too deep into these meds. I couldnt handle the detox of at least 5 days. I would have been a zombie from lack of sleep (have to work), I get the night hits. I know one thing....these side effects suck...prednisone, topomax, Imitrex...all of them....side effects. nothing too scary but hey the other route you get nothing! rrr

as far as the detox goes... hmmm i know all the sites say "do it do it do it" but i'm only on topamax... and a VERY low (25 mgs, twice daily), at that, one that my body is very close to being completely tolerant of.... it isnt even listed as one of the drugs sure to interfere with the seed treatment... i've actually read quite a bit about it (years of internerding has taught me to read up on things before posting... especially a new thread!) my plan (as of now... and most likely barring anyone saying 'this will kill you' or 'this will make the seed treatment never work') is 1. prep/take about 35 RC seeds when they arrive 2. taper off topamax over the next 3 days (switch to one pill a day) 3. if necessary (which it probably will be, from the sounds of it) take another 35 seeds five days after the initial dose... repeat until cycle aborted/it becomes clear this method is not going to work for me... to the person who suggested i re-establish old connections... i wish it were that simple... suppliers live all across the country now... i'm pretty thankful for my incompetent physician, in a way, it sounds like i'm low on the medication spectrum of clusterheads.... should make getting off this effing poison much easier.... wish me luck!

From the clusterbusters site, just FYI: 4.1.2 Possible inhibitors There are some medications which may interfere with psilocybin (and LSD): anti-convulsants or anti-epileptic medications such as Neurontin(gabapentin) and Topamax(topiramate). The exact mechanism by which topiramate works, for example, is still unknown, so it is impossible to even guess whether or not it will interfere with psilocybin. Found the info here: http://clusterbusters.com/faq.html#4 IMHO, If you're on such a low dose of Topomax, and it doesn't seem to help anyway, then talk to your doc about just getting off it before you start the seed treatment. Best of luck to ya!! Adam

Ok. Just thought I'd point that out. Let us know if you have success with the seeds while staying on it. I'm kinda curious to know, too. Best of luck, Adam

i'm aware of that... but like many other prescription meds it isnt without horrible side effects... i wasnt insulting anyone, just upset about the necessity of drugs like this, and longing for maybe a day when they are no longer needed. apologies if i stepped on any toes.

Might CH actually be the catalist for the phrase that one man's cure is another man's poison? I have to wonder given the plethora of meds and combinations that we use to deal with this horror.

if i look at the potential long term side effects of topamax, and discount its ability to relieve symptoms of chronic illnesses in some people... to me it does look like an "effing poison" i wasnt insulting you and i apologize if you interpreted it that way -kurt.

oh god i've gone from getting off on the wrong foot to....... probably an un-salvageable internet relationship haha... a do-over perhaps my name is kurt topamax helps to reduce my symptoms, but even in low doses (which are starting to not keep me PF) the mental side effects are too much for it to be a viable treatment option.

| Here's what you don't seem to understand: You don't get to decide if I am insulted. So try not to say things that could be potentially insulting. It would be like you calling my son a bastard when he has been a godsend to me. Apology accepted. Edited to add: For the record, I was not personally insulted by your phraseology. But a good number of my brothers and sisters here very well could have been. I have never taken Topomax.

| Hi Kurt. It's really not recommended that you start with a 35 seed dose. It's really better to start low (the buster site recommends 5 RC seeds to start) and work up if needed. Good luck and keep us posted. pf wishes, nani

Well, where do I start? Topamax is some nasty stuff in my experience. The first time I was on it at 75mg, I had to quit after 2 weeks. My nero through a fit and made me try it again even though it didn’t help the CH attacks. I was also on verap & tegratol at that time. So I go back on the topamax at 50mg and force myself to stay on the stuff for 2 moths. I was toxic after the first 30 days. I couldn’t remember how to get anywhere driving, and it got so bad that I felt too incapacitated to do anything (but suffer through the Kip8 attacks in a daze sucking on O2, and unable to fight the beast). And then I ended up loosing my job to boot. I’m sure many people can tolerate that crap but not me. I also don’t think Topamax is actually approved for CH, only migraines. Then there is some chance of calcium build up in your organs also (kidney’s especially). So I guess in a way if you died of kidney falure from topamax use it would be considered poisonous to that unfortunate individual anyway. I understand that many of the drugs used for CH are not originally intended for CH but have some or a lot of good results. Everyone is different so to each his/her own. PFW, Rolo….

I'm at 125mg's topomax. I can function fine. Minor problems but nothing I can't handle, and I have to deal with people all day. I agree, it isn't something I would want to stay on long term. I'm hoping to be off, at the most by jan. rrr
