I think they have sucked enough blood from us.

Highlights
GSK has executed a number of well-timed lifecycle management strategies that have ensured Imitrex's market leadership. However, Imitrex's impending patent expiry will result in generic sumatriptan flooding the US market in late 2008, and crucial delays to Trexima's launch will signal the end of GSK's dominance of the migraine market.

Yeah, those poor bastards.

Between the health insurance companies and the pharmaceutical manufacturers, it's a wonder the suicide rate among clusterheads isn't higher.

The Czech Zentiva pharma co. sells generic Imigran pills (Cinie) on exactly half price here.
Imigran injection's patent expire in august 2008. Hope Zentiva will produce injection too. GSK sucks  Tongue

Good to hear Matt.  With some cost-cutting insurance changes having been implemented lately toward brand name, non-generic prescriptions, this should be helpful.  About a year it sounds like.  I can't begin to assess the amount of money seen on prescriptions over the years that went to GSK and the extra cost to me from this long monopoly.

I truly don't know if the big drug companies rip us off or not. At something like $80 or more for two lousy Imitrex refills, one might believe that. I read once that bringing a drug like Imitrex to market here in the USA can cost almost as much as it makes the company during it's patent life.

Now , whether this is true...I don't know.
Lately I was prescribed 6 Imitrex refills. Usually they cost me $25 for two refills (2 pack)
 I figured it should be $75...right 3X$25=$75

I was surprised to find out because I was prescribed 3 at a time, my insurance got them to me for only $25...same as if I was prescribed only one...yeah!!!

However, it may just be a mistake and I'll find out soon enough.

If it was a mistake, I have no doubt that my insurance co. will demand I repay them...which I will have to.

Good news for people here who consume a ton of Imitrex. Happy for y'all even if you have to wait a year.
