This is short notice

I am leaving for Denver in an hour to see a great Neurologist (he also specializes in oncology and hematology ?sp?). I am very excited after what I have been dealing with at the ER and the referrals to docs that talk to me about migraine and to "be careful of eating strawberries" and things that I have never heard are triggers for cluster headache. Anyone have any advice on what to ask for or discuss with him? I also wanted to ask if anyone vomits during an attack. I never use to, but it has been happening once in a while, and I mean bad... Thanks for the feedback, littlefoot

Hi Littelfoot, First and foremost make sure you have CH or not. Then ask about preventatives such as Verapmil Lithium ect. Also mention a possible Prednisone taper to break the current cycle you are in. Then ask about abortives O2 being at the top of your list ( since it has the least amount of side affects). Then my favorite Imitrex injections they work the fastest(at least for me).Remember what works for some may not work for others. Also don't forget to try energy drinks such as Red Bull,Monster anything with caffeine and taurine in them.At first hint of being hit slam it down as fast as possible. And it is very important to be patient, you may have to try a few different combinations of meds before you find out what works for you. Good luck and welcome to your new family. Dave

I can't tell you what to ask your new doc, as I am still wondering all the right questions to ask myself, but, I would like to comment on the nausea. I know it is usually more associated with migraine, but I too feel like that sometimes. Usually, for me, it is after I've had a kip 8 or above for more than an hour. At that point, it seems that "normal" goes right out the window! I feel like it, but have only ever vomited twice during an attack. Both times was while I was having the longest one I have ever had... 4 hours. Not only was that a long one, but it had to be close to, if not a kip 10. That was the longest night of my life!! The entire next day I was drained. But no more CH for about 2 days after that, so that was ok! I guess I'd just like to remind you that we all have similar AND different experiences. Keep your chin up, and maybe ask your doc about Compazine (sp.?) for the nausea. Sure couldn't hurt anything. Good luck! Hope you find some answers! Adam
