Morning: I have been in and out of a cycle since Mar 5th, first 3 months were bad, since then a couple of 2 or 3's a day. I got a perscription for Verpamil (240mg SR) yesterday and took one at noon, got a 3 about 4pm, got a 6 about 9pm and a real killer an hour after I went to bed. Is this usual when you start to take this Med or should I try it another way. My Dr wasn't all that much help......Thanks ..............VERN

| you should have been given directions on how to take your medication. Period!! It is not unusual for things to start changing either way when you introduce a medication into your system. It also takes a while for verapamil to reach therapeutic levels.

Seems like a low dosage, though I am currently reducing mine do to low heart rate. As E-Double said, verap takes a while too kick in, usually about 10-14 days. Usually started with a prednisone taper to hold you till then

I agree, too soon to tell, also a low dosage. My hubby used to be on 480mg of ver. and two pills of cafergot daily. Kept the hits down, but the side effects were bad. Just do your homework, and listen to the advice of the senior-knowledged people here! You might have to educate your doctor somewhat too! Pain-free wishes, Leah.
