Energy drinks without taurine???

Well, I don't know how I did it, but I managed to leave for vacation with only a single trex injection on me... I normally pack my whole stockpile, just in case. I realized this three hours after we left. So, knowing I was facing a total of about 26 hours of driving ahead of me, I really didn't want to turn around and go back. I managed the first day ok. The second day, however, I had pretty heavy shadows all day long. Kind of felt like the beast was licking my eyesocket... But I knew that the last two hours of the drive would be at night, thru the mountains with lots of steep curves(Salt River Canyon in AZ), so I was saving that trex just in case I needed it for that. So, I had been slamming lots of caffienated beverages all day. Here is my quandry... I take a pretty stiff dose of verapamil, therefore it is unwise for me to take the ones with Taurine. Does anyone have any suggestions for energy drinks or other beverages that have the high caffiene content but not taurine? Yesterday, I had a couple of Vault Zeros, coffee, and a couple of the orange mineral waters. And now I have to give great credit to my neuro. I called her office yesterday and explained what I had done and less than 20 minutes later, they had called in a new script for me here at my Mom's pharmacy. And yes, I have O2 at home, but I didn't even think about trying to squeeze a tank in my car. Bridget

I could be wrong here but I think you might be better off making a strong batch of coffee, I believe the biggest benifit of the energy drinks is the caffeine and taurine together. If you eliminate the taurine your just paying for an expensive and shitty tasting dring when you can get the same results from a few cups of coffee!! Pain free wishes too ya! Chris!

+1 on the coffee idea Chris. If your not looking for Taurine coffee is the way to go. You should talk to your O2 supplier. They should be able to arrange for you to get a few E tanks on the same script that got you the home tank. E tanks are portable (kinda) and can fit in your car for trips. I'm facing a long day tomorrow bringing my daughter to college and I'm having three E tanks delivered in the morning. They're still leaving me a refilled M tank too. -Dennis-

| well MANY energy drinks have Guarana Guarana (Paullina Cupana) is nut-like seed of a climbing vine that grows in the Amazon basin in Brazil just south of the equator. Guarana has been used for centuries by the indigenous people of this area as natural energy supplement and today over 25% of the soft drinks on the market in Brazil contain Guarana as a main ingredient. In the United States Guarana holds a GRAS-status (Generally Regarded As Safe). However, as with any other form of caffeine, individuals with heart problems or high blood-pressure should use caution when consuming large quantities of Guarana. Guarana is also said to help after strenuous exercise by cleansing the body of lactic acid buildup and thus bringing energy levels back to normal. Keep in mind that Guarana, as any caffeine, is a natural diuretic, A diuretic is any drug that elevates the rate of bodily urine excretion (diuresis). There are several categories of diuretics. All diuretics increase the excretion of water from the body, although each class of diuretic does so in a distinct way. In addition to other chemicals, the guarana plant contains caffeine (sometimes called "guaranine", theophylline, and theobromine. Water extracts of the guarana plant are central nervous system stimulants due to the content of these alkaloids. A 1997 study of guarana's effects on the physical activity of rats showed increased memory retention and physical endurance when compared with a placebo.[13] Other studies have shown antioxidant, antibacterial, and fat cell reduction (when combined with conjugated linoleic acid) properties in guarana [14] bawls and rockstar actually taste pretty good and have lots of caffeine maybe more or less depending on the size and type of coffee bawls usually helps lessen the affects of CH but its not as good for CH without the taurine there are sugar free energy drinks if you cannot have sugar sugar free bawls ,sobe, sugar free sobe, sugar free redbull, redbull, monster and wwf do not taste that good as for price bawls is 75cents in florida $1.30 in toronto $2 in niagara falls $2.50-63 here $10 a bottle in the uk not sure how they were shipping it I'm sure it would be cheaper to fedex it Rockstar and Redbull are more expensive and sobe is the cheapest and has taurine Thats both the bottles of sobe and sobe arush small cans coffee has more antioxidants even tho its good for the body it will not help and energy drinks do have some antioxidants so your better off with the energy drinks

Here's a list of energy drinks with taurine, for explaoration and comparison. Most also have caffiene, and some have a lot of both, and all kinds of other stuff. http://tommydfungus.googlepages.com/taurinepage1 Quote:as for price bawls is 75cents in florida $1.30 |
| Note that Bawls is not on this list as it has no taurine. It does have a lot of caffeine - about 300 mgs in a 16 oz can - the equivalent of about five or six cups of coffee. To save money on taurine energy drinks, check out generics and store brands - Red Thunder, available at Aldi's, is pretty close to Red Bull and half the price. -tommyD

Thanks all for your replies. If I need the O2, I'm sure I can get it here. As for being the first thing in the car... I managed to pack myself two pairs of pant and 4 shirts for a two week trip. Truly, when it came to my own stuff, I think I lost my mind . I did spend some time looking at some energy drinks to see what didn't have taurine, came away with a few cans of Full Throttle Bad Mother. It has been keeping the shadows at bay while waiting for the increase in meds to kick in.

Well, IMHO it tastes better than Red Bull. I drank on the other day and it knocked all the shadows away and I enjoyed my day. I haven't had a hit over K5, so I haven't had to chug one back.

| Bridget, If all you're after is the caffeine, just go for the coffee. Red Bull doesn't really have THAT much, anyway. At 80 mg/12 oz., it's only got half the caffeine of a cup of coffee. Good luck, and PFDAN! Jim
