Melatonin causes CH?

So my Neuro suggests I try 10mg Melatonin 1/2 hour before since the Prednisone, Verapamil, Inderal, Sansert and Depakote failed to provide any cessation of this current cycle (going on 8 months now!!! I'm afraid I'm crossing over to Chronic). Anyway, 2 hours after falling asleep, I was bolt upright in bed with the most horrific CH I've ever experienced!! Same the following night. Needless to say, I stopped that drug right quick! Can Melatonin cause CH? Who the hell knew?? Also went for a brain scan with contrast last night to see if anythings going on in my dome. Clusters have recently been switching sides, has me and my Neuro curious. Should have the report early next week. The frustration I'm feeling right now is extreme. Still considering starting a mushroom farm. Thanks for listening.

Melatonin actually helps a lot of us avoid night time hits. Switching sides is not unheard of, either. Since this is new, a scan should help rule out any other issues. pf wishes, nani

I seriously doubt the melatonin triggered.

What time at night do you usually get hit? Was 2 hours after falling asleep different than when they usually come? For me, melatonin has been helpful--I continued taking 6 mg a night even out of cycle.

| Actually what he said is that Melatonin CAUSES CH. In my mind, this is not possible but I hope our pre-eminent expert on this subject, Doug Wright sees this so he can respond.

| 10 mg is quite a large dose to start with, you should start at 3mg and work your doseage around to see what works best for you. Also you should take it 1.5-2 hours before bed. That gives it time to work when it should naturally be working in your body.
