Minor Trex Tip Hint

For me the biggest hassle with the Trex Tip is getting that darn label off. What I now do, is I have marked a Q-Tip with a dark line that tells me how far to push to get the desired dosage. For me, I use 3mg a time, so I do the tip with the label off once, and after I inject 3mg, I marked the Q-Tip stem at the top of the syringe. For now on, I don't bother with removing the label, and just inject until I hit the mark on the Q-Tip. You could also have 2 marks for a 2 and 4 mg injection as well. Not a big deal, but I sure we have all had a CH catch us without the Trex prepared and it is not fun messing with a label when your in pain.

Thanks for sharing billyjoe. That (and the Trex tip) would be great if all you have is the stat dose system. But, instead of doing that all the time (and using the same needle multiple times) ... why don't you ask for Imitrex in the vials so you can draw up exactly what you'll need (and you won't need to use the same needle more than once). OR you could ask your doc about getting a sterile vial (and some syringes) and then transfer the Trex from the refill needle (stat dose) to the vial so you can draw up what you need. It would nice to do it a different way but my pharmacist says he can only get the single vials and they cost twice as much as the stat dose system for the same number of mgs. Before I met my deductable, I was paying $142. for the stat dose and he wanted $300 for 6-1mg vitals. I said no thanks! My neuro has been giving me 4mg stat dose systems that I love, but I save them for when I'm traveling or on the golf course. I don't think you can buy these though. If there is something else available, I would love to hear about it. I read somewhere that the patent for trex expired in Europe and may expire in the US in 2008. I wonder if there is a generic or different doses available in the UK? Thanks!
