Sounds pretty dubious to me. Anyone ever been struck by lightening? Quote:2007 Jun;65(2A):352-354. Cluster headache attacks in a woman previously struck by lightning: pathophysiology of the latent period. Valença MM, Silva WF, Andrade-Valença LP, Bordini CA, Speciali JG. Division of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Department of Neuropsychiatry, CCS, University of Pernambuco, Recife, PE, Brazil. BACKGROUND: Cases of patients who developed cluster headache-like symptoms after different putative causes have been reported, indicating a direct relationship between brain lesion and this particular type of headache. Long term, delayed, neurological sequelae after lightning have also been described. CASE REPORT: We describe the case of a woman who, at the age of 10, was struck by lightning. Six years later she developed cluster headache-like attacks. CONCLUSION: We hypothesize that a relationship between the lightning and the cluster headache-like episodes observed in our patient. This case study may have helped throw some light into the still unknown pathophysiology of this particular type of primary headache. |

Lee, the key is "cluster-like". The author is not claiming that this person has CH but, rather, a set of symptoms which share some of the characteristics of CH. This is regularly, but not frequently, reported in the medical literature, i.e., some medical problem leading to some symptoms which, without a good diagnostic workup, can be misdiagnosed as Cluster.

So if a normal person gets hit by lightning can develop CH, I wonder if someone with CH would be cured by being hit by lightning ?

Yes George, I was joking, hence the Cluster-like symptoms and secondary CH itself can occur with a variety of conditions. For example, did you know that fungus can actually cause CH!? Check out "orbito-sphenoidal aspergillosis"; Heidegger in Cephalalgia 1997; 17:676-679! -Lee
