Topic: Attacking The Beast Full Force ! (Read 879 times) |

I didn't just want to wait around until the beast attacked me .. I wanted to take the fight to him and fight him by my rules ... so I was admitted sometime last week and this is what I did:
Histamine infusions
solu Medrol IV 'push' - 125mg every 6 hours for 2 - 3 days (?)
DHE IV 'push' - 0.5mg every 6 hours until a total of 6 mg
demerol IV 100mg PRN 4 - 6 doses in 24 hours.
The meds are rough sometimes, but it sure beats the agony of the beast ! BTW, I've beat him down to nothing right now. It's going to take him awhile to recouperate from this beating !!
Okay, I'm ready for that camping/gishing trip now !!
I hope that all of you have a few weapons you can use against the beast if you need to or want to.

I am not a pharmacist by any means but who gave you these doses. The solu medrol will cause fluid retention among other things. Then the demrol. The cumulative effect of this seems hars and dangerously high. Like sedation with zero respiratory drive left.
I dont know but unless a doc said do it I would not try it.

You're absolutely right, these are hefty doses. A common dose of Demerol would be 25 - 50mg ... but I've built up such a tolerance that the regular doses has no effect.
The Solu Medrol doses I mentioned are also quite large. You could only take doses like this for a cpl of days before serious side effects started to kick in. ( At 500mg day you could expect to gain about 5 - 7 lbs per day ... but weight gain wouldn't be the main problem if you continued doing it like that )

I wouldn't go quite as far as to say that. Sure, you can do 1000mg of Solu Medrol ... but do you know what you're going to look like in 1 week ? I did it for 10 days and gained about 60 lbs !! You can't do that dose for very long !
Demerol, no big deal. The steroids will kill you quicker

I dont think that the dosages of Solumedrol are used that high for us very often however, chronic pulmonary disease is different and these people have to take everyday there is no taper. yes at first they balloon up just like us but it goes away its the other side effects of long term usage that suck.
