I would be sceptical of a product's site that refers you to inquire with their sales dept. with a phone number when inquiring of the technology, and lists article excepts from Time and Forbes on the site but which do not mention the technology or product in either article, much less for consumer use.

Quackwatch found this product too.

ELF Laboratory, Inc., which markets the LBGtm Light Beam Generator, which is claimed to "restore proper functioning of the body's immune system" by "removing toxic materials that may be blocking the lymphatic system." The company claims that the device can prevent arthritis, breast cancer, build-up of calcified joints, carpal tunnel syndrome, cellulite, chronic injuries, clogged arteries, colitis, dental diseases and inflammation, edema, fibromyalgia, headaches, leg and back pain, lupus, mastodynia (pain in the breast), prostate cancer/enlargement, scars, sciatica, and varicose veins. The device is said to combine "gaseous tube technology" with "sound efficiency and light photon therapy" based on the work of Royal Raymond Rife. (The Rife Generator is a quack device that allegedly used radio waves to shatter alleged cancer-causing bacteria.) The claims made for the LBG device are illegal.

ELF Laboratory Responds
On October 23, 2002, the research director of ELF Laboratory notified me that the writer that they had hired had made some misstatements and that they had "changed the verbiage to better state the 'capabilities' of the technology" and that the only claim they make is that the LBG is "a method for facilitating lymph movement using electrophoresis." [5] It appears to me that the new wording is no more valid than the original. You can judge this for yourself by reading their letter.

I can't afford the light beam generator-am thinking if I move all my lamps into one small room-say the bathroom-and put really big bulbs in them-and turn them all on at once that should do the trick.
BRB, gotta go buy some light bulbs.

In all seriousness, if it works for you wonderful.  It does not seem to be scientifically believable, but what they hey-helicopters really shouldn't be able to fly either.
Really recommend people try O2, Imitrex, energy drinks, verap (but not with energy drinks), ice, cold air....

I see you have tried the standard remedies.  Perhaps this was just an extremely short cycle?  Are you still pain free?

I saw one of these very expensive devices at a "health convention" a few years ago. I was not totally convinced but was assured this light is "special". It may well have excellent healing properties for all I know so might be worth a try.

As for Quack Watch - all I can say is: don't believe that everything you read there is true! I agree that there is plenty of quackery around and they are trying to uncover it, but this site is such a big naysayer of anything remotely alternative, and is so one sided in it's view that I take it with a pinch of salt.

I have read plenty of negative stuff there knocking therapies that have actually worked for me that I don't just blindly trust the information there.

Well Ch seems to be controlled by the hypothalamus (I know - pineal glad TT!) so interrupting your regular sleep/wake pattern could help. I know when I fly to the states I have a brilliant time for the first few days headwise but heading back home (east) I get knocked for six.

I'm going to ask a friend of mine for his input here but I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the value of changing your patterns whether by light box or whatever.

I'm always glad to here people getting relief by whatever method, but I think you may be barking up the wrong tree limey-bird.  Roll Eyes

I've nothing against lymphatic flow therapy, but I've never heard of a dodgy lymphatic system (or lymphedema) being associated with either primary or secondary CH.  Flo may have something to say about our dysfunctional immune system (elevated levels of TNF, IL-1 etc), but I can't see the relevance here.

From what I can make out, despite the product name, this treatment is based more on electromagnetism (combined with massage) rather than the more traditional light-boxes used for conditions such as SAD (so don't convert your bathroom just yet Kathy Wink).  If it does work, I would guess the massage bit is imperative, but you never know. Undecided

I'm off to check my lymph nodes, just in case. Cheesy

I wonder if cycnics said this about X-rays and CAT scans and suchlike in the past. "what, you can see the bones or the brain from outside the body - you're shitting me!

Seriously though I am not endorsing this, but be open to it. If you can get a free try out (like JPFERRY) and it works, then what have you lost.

I have a good friend who has very bad insulin dependant diabetes. A few years ago he had a cut on his shin which would not heal up. It turned into a nasty ulcer and eventually gangerene started. No amount of antibiotics and such could get rid of it and he was advised he would lose his leg soon. He found an alternative therapist who thought outside the box and gave him some sort of high infrared lamp to focus on the leg 3 times a day for about 20 minutes at a time, and within a few days there were signs of healing. The ulcer and gangrene went away after a few weeks and he only has the scars to remind him that he came close to losing his leg.

All this from a "light"!

Some of you will no doubt know I have my own ideas on how I handle my own CH. It used to be with Imigran and such but now I treat the yearly onset with a detox diet since 2003 with great success. I have no real positive idea on exactly how this works for me. I have hypothesized i=on this for several years now. It may even be lymph related? but whatever it is it works for me.

So - good luck to any who try the LMG method Cool

If I sent away for grizzly bear protection and received a free trial steak knife in the mail and it works, what have I lost.  When it comes to CH, I'd weigh the risk and loss MUCH more seriously here.

Yes, luck would most certainly be involved.

Yes, noble gas lights are very attractive, you can pick the color you like to from the chart, or which street lamp to stand under, argon seems soothing.

From the company's correspondence:

Quote:
We have changed the verbiage that specifically identifies the equipment as a method for facilitating lymph movement using electrophoresis- nothing more.

I've not read of electrophoresis done with gas lights and massage.  Serum, paper, gel, and cell electrophoresis can be found.

Lee's massage comment and Tommy's flashlight comment are on the money.
