Red Bull/Caffeine question

Is it just the caffeine in the Red Bull that is supposed to help?  Or is it something else?  Taurine?  I've also read that some people keep coffee on hand for CH.

If it's just the caffeine, would a diet soda work just as well?

Taurine enhances the effect of almost any drug with which it is taken. The caffeine of a diet pop will help, but it helps more when taken with taurine (like in an energy drink).
