extending imitrex idea

I was just reading the imitrex tip page. Was thinking for the more squeamish people like myself who instead of poking yourself and using a Qtip. Maybe there was a way to shave down or clip the end of the imitrex injector (the little white plunger) to get 2 or 3 doses from each syringe. This technique would use 2 or 3 different kits shaved to different lengths... i.e. Stage 1) Injector would have the most taken off to only push down the syringe 1/3 of the way. Stage 2) Injector has less shaved off pushing it 1/3 more Stage 3) would be a non modified injector. ------<|||||||||||||||||| Original Syringe ------<||||||||||||=== Stage 1 (Modified most off plunger) ------<||||||====== Stage 2 (Modified less off plunger) ------<|========= Stage 3 (unmodified plunger) Has anyone ever tried this idea before? If so, I was wondering, if they could post the EXACT measurement to cut off of the plunger in the kit. Just lookin to get the most out of this horrendously priced medicine. The Q-tip idea is a great idea and was the reason of my thinking of this. This website is a lifesaver. thank you all so much. Peace

Yes, I've heard of this idea before. I think a modified injector was actually built. Not sure if it actually worked. The easiest way is to get Imitrex vials and small syringes. It's less painful than the auto-injector and you can draw up what you think you'll need. UNsolved

Yes. It isn't as easy as "taking off 1/3" though. I believe there is a lot more plunger than vial. The guy who posted it years back had actual measurements of how much to remove from the plunger (I don't remember them but he had it down to the 1/16th of an inch). It is a good idea.
