Discounted/Free Meds

I recently found out that one of my clients runs a nonprofit patient assistance program that helps people who can't afford their meds. I told her about my need for Imitrex injections and after some paperwork and help from my neuro I will be getting some free Imitrex. She said that their are no restrictions on most drugs, but of course their is on trex. I can get 5 boxes, 6 nasal sprays, and 18 tabs per month for 12 months. Apparently the drug companies have programs based on your income. Since I am self employed and on paper don't make much $$ (in reality also) I qualified easily. Depending on your income you may only qualify for discounts, but it is worth looking into if you have no insurance. I do have insurance, but my deductibles and copays are high and she said her org. has a don't ask don't tell policy regarding ins. Works for me! If you google patient assistance programs you can find out more.
