I'm been taking Imitrex for about 8 years now ...
this CH cylce started about 2 weeks ago and I've been pretty much poppin quite a bit for those 2 wks every 12 hrs...
Ever  since Friday...(2days ago... right when I take it for an attack) it feels like my glands on my neck begin to throb or swell... I've never felt this before.. I also feel like I'm getting a fever off and on... Has anyone ever felt this before or is this common? It's been continuous now for 2 days and I won't see my neuro until Tues. just wntd to know if anyone else felt this

Hello Brian,

Do you get the feverish feelings other than when you have the attack? Where about in the neck do you feel the swellings and throbbing ?

It could be any of these:

1- A viral infection and thats the lymph glands swelling, but then you would expect the fever and swelling to continue past the attack.

2- Cluster lumps swelling, please see the other thread " cluster lump on back of neck " in the Cluster specific board.

3- Carotid arteries on the side of the neck swelling and throbbing , siphoning extra blood, this is just part of normal CH, but get your BP checked.

The anatomical position of these swellings are important to help determine what they are, mention them to your neuro and he will be able to confirm for you.

Nothing to do with Imitrex though, I dont think.

Good luck with it all and painfree wishes.

thank you for the response!
yes, I have  been feeling the feverish feeling off and on since friday.  Only, my glands on the side of my neck begin to swell have became very painful( a different kinda pain from the cluster pain - like they are going to burst ) making me almost scared to take the Imitrex to take the cluster away fear of what this new pain in my swollen glands are in the sides of my neck? Weird- I know...
But-Thank you for pointing me to those other threads as well....i've been wondering for ever why I never find anyone on here bitching about that pain in  back of their neck....Ice & Hot,Hot Hot Showers are my best friends because of that treat!
But I will check my blood pressure asap, thanks again!
