zyprexa / update

my cholesterol was 262 . my doc wants me on crestor. i hate it cause zyprexa has worked well for me. what to do now. once you get on staten drugs you have to stay on them? any thoughts thank you eddie

No, you dont have to stay on statin drugs forever. Take them for a while, once your cholesterol level has been good for a year or so you can go off the statin then maintain them on good diet, with 6 monthly blood test for check the level. The most important thing here is : diet and lifestyle, eat right, exercise heaps and you will be able to drop your cholesterol down more quickly so that you can get off the meds. All the best. I'm not aware of any interaction betweeen these two drugs which would prevent you from using Zyprexa. I used this combination for years without problems or any concern from my primary care doc.
