Hello All, Looking for comments on the above question. Currently using zomig which is working great with minimal side effects. Have to save for the bad ones since insurance will only cover 6 per month (what kind of lamity is that???). But also have trex injectible which was approved and script filled at the same time (bizarre, just give me double zomig!). Anyway, based on reading here, I fear the side effects of trex. Not the injection part, a stick vs a hit, that's an easy one. Is this fear unfounded? Am I just being a wuss? Sorry if this has been addressed before. Along with other problems with the site, the search function does not work for me. Regards, Jon

outside of the medical implications I personally have tried the imitrex injects and imitrex inhalable. personally found that I didn't like the back of the throat drip after the inhaler which also seemed to make my stomach not feel so good. the shot is so efficient and I was able to go about my business so quickly afterward. the speed of the action with the injection was also incredible, for me, in comparison. scott

I don't know anything about Zomig. But I agree that Imitrex injections work very quickly and effectively. I have also been using Imitrex pills (50mg), which is not as fast, but just as effective, and seems to take a bit less of a toll on my body than the injection. I've used Imitrex daily the last 3 days, which I'm starting t oget a bit concerned about...

This was the first cycle I used imitrex injectable. Worked miracles, stopped the attacks in their tracks. Down side was my usual 3 month cycle went 8 months. Obviously too early to tell if the imitrex extended the cycle or the beast just morphed again but having read several threads about imitex extending cycles it is something I'll monitor. On Zomig I've never tried it, did the imitrex nasal spray and it was next to useless for me, just made me wanna barf! Good luck to ya! Guiseppi

hay there, I use both of them because of insurance reasons as well. I find the imitrex is much better and use zomig only if I'm out of the imitrex. Zomig inhaler sux with the nasal drip stuff. Hate that. Side effects for imitrex? I have been taking it so long I dont even think there are any anymore. Also, I believe imitrex works fast than zomig. just my Beth

since you are used to the zomig nasal spray why not get a script for imitrex nasal spray also as well as the shot. That should give you more coverage to last through out the month. Good luck.

question: in the USA you say imitrex, is that the same as imigran in Europe? (I've had these auto-injector thingies but I've never dared to use them. They're gone now, overdated.)

I've used both during this cycle.........only wait at least 24 hours between use of Imitrex and Zomig. What I have found about both triptans: Imitrex injections are lightning fast with me---usually works in 5 to 10 minutes maximum. Down side, another hit can come along fairly quickly. The needle is tiny and I do not feel the injection. Zomig NS takes a bit longer to work. About 15-20 minutes, but usually holds another headache off for at least 8 hours up to 12. Given the choice I prefer the Zomig because I can get a whole night's sleep when using it. The above are MY results. John

Has anyone else tried Imitrex PILLS? Am I the only one? They work almost as well as injections. You get 9 per rx as opposed to 2 injections. I use both, but have options. I am curious if others have had success with the pills.

| PILLS are way too slow. By the time they begin to work the headache is mostly gone on its own. John

the big difference for me was that a Zomig nasal will stop 12-24 hours of CHactivity. Imitrex only stopped the current headaCHe. 2 hours later it's CHit time again.

Never tried Zomig NS but have seen here from Jonny that it works great. Imigran/Imitrex is the exactly the same stuff just different names US/UK and others Imigran for me: Inj is fantastic NS is useless Pills are useless Maxalt is useless Modified to add: Imigran Inj does not give me any side effects now. First few times I had some "palpitations" which felt a bit strange in my chest, but now I feel nothing. If I get another cycle I will give Zomig a try based on Jonny's recommendations

i swear by those imiGRAN injections. I NEVER leave the house without soem in my pocket. They abort a hit within minutes - sometimes seconds for me and it works every time. All hail - GSK ps pills are worthless as they take 40 minutes + to work. Why suffer for 40 minutes ?? also the ns works a treat too but can take 15-20 minutes to kick in - NO SIR - gimme my autoinjector

| Ditto to what my brother the shoe man says!! Plus, the Zomig spray works just as fast as the Trex inj for me.

I love the nasal spray minus the taste and i keep pills in the truck if it is severe enough to be in the dark and wish I could swap heads with anyone or god would come down and take me home ( I sometimes begin to pray like never before that it will just end right after third time around) I take the injections

Cant speek to the trex as I haven't tried it. My doc doesn't like it for some reason. I have however tried the Zomig disolvable tablets. This is the only script med I have tried. I have used it in the past with episodes but let the insurance dictate how much I took. The insurance company I used at the time would only pay for 3 pills a month. At that time they cost about $100.00 at piece. Well as direct result that is all I would use per month. The rest of the time I used ice and other "home made treatments" AKA pacing, hot water ice packs ect. My cycles were only lasting about a month or two one time per year. This time I didn't have insurance but the price had dropped to $25.00 per pill. So I decided to start taking them daily. I have suffered the longest time ever this episode. The cycle started in July and I am still having weak to strong shadows when sleeping. I just started trying the "Red Bull" for day time hits and 3 mg. melatonin 45 minutes before bedtime. Seems to have been working quite well for the last hree days. Peace and PF wishes, Andre
