Tarka medication question

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has taken Tarka (it is a combination of verapamil and trandgolarpil--an ACE inhibitor for blood pressure). I was taking periactin (?sp), to no help (just walked around dopey). So, I began to push for verapamil, because of many of your suggestions in posts. However, I have very uncontrolled high blood pressure and they continue to tread very carefully with medications (I do have O2 and imitrex injections), so that is how I ended up on this per my kidney doctor and not just good old verapamil like the HA doc wanted...Has anyone heard of this or had any luck with it being in a combination form. I'm just wondering if it will be as effective..

Thanks and pain free wishes...

Hi and welcome

There is no problem that I know of with the use of both together. I couldn't take verp. because my BP is to low to start with. Atacand is also a ACE, there were doing a study of it in Norway. Swenn was on it. and had some luck with it. Hopefully he will see this and be able to help you. Here is the link to his post: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct/show/NCT00184587
I do have one warning tho,  please be very carefull with IMITREX. I know others will come on and tell you that they had no problems on it and they also have heart problems.
There is a warning on RX list about it:

Risk of Myocardial Ischemia and/or Infarction and Other Adverse Cardiac Events:

Sumatriptan should not be given to patients with documented ischemic or vasospastic CAD (see CONTRAINDICATIONS). It is strongly recommended that sumatriptan not be given to patients in whom unrecognized CAD is predicted by the presence of risk factors (e.g., hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, smoker, obesity, diabetes, strong family history of CAD, female with surgical or physiological menopause, or male over 40 years of age) unless a cardiovascular evaluation provides satisfactory clinical evidence that the patient is reasonably free of coronary artery and ischemic myocardial disease or other significant underlying cardiovascular disease. The sensitivity of cardiac diagnostic procedures to detect cardiovascular disease or predisposition to coronary artery vasospasm is modest, at best. If, during the cardiovascular evaluation, the patient’s medical history or electrocardiographic investigations reveal findings indicative of or consistent with coronary artery vasospasm or myocardial ischemia, sumatriptan should not be administered (see CONTRAINDICATIONS).
. there is a large warning about heart problems  the warning from RX list under imitrex:
IMITREX Injection should only be used where a clear diagnosis of migraine or cluster headache has been established. The prescriber should be aware that cluster headache patients often possess one or more predictive risk factors for coronary artery disease (CAD).

Risk of Myocardial Ischemia and/or Infarction and Other Adverse Cardiac Events:

Sumatriptan should not be given to patients with documented ischemic or vasospastic CAD (see CONTRAINDICATIONS). Be safe
PF wishes
