Drixoral VS cluster headaches

Greetings to all,

it's been a long while since I posted. I come to you brothers and sisters to let you know that I skiped two bouts. Let me start from the begining...

I've had cluster headaches for the past 10 years at a reason of two bouts per years. One in spring and the second in automne. it took about 8 years to find out I had cluster headaches and the only reason why I was diagnosed with those was that my new doctor's mother had them and she new and most importantly understood the pain I was going through.

So she prescribed Naproxen and Zyprexa but it did not work all that well. The last major attacked happened at around 1:00 AM and I ended up at the hospital where I was given oxygen and some heavy pain killers.

I had noticed that I usualy had a stuffy nose during bouts and I went to the pharmacy to find something to clear my sinuses and the guy recommended Drixoral, spray pump.

I started taking this on a regular basis, each and everytime my sinuses where acting up. It's been 8 months now and so far I did not have any cluster headaches. I skiped the ones I usualy had in spring and the ones I usauly had at this time of the year, when automn begins.

Now I am not saying or implying that I found a magical cure for everyone. All I am saying is that I am noticing this: since I take Drixoral on a regular basis I did not have any cluster headaches. I don't know exactly what goes into Drixoral but perhaps there is an ingrediant in there that helps somehow. ( your comments and input would be apprciated at this point )

Does anyone also have sinus problems of some sort that tried Drixoral?

For all I know they might come back anytime. And I pray to God that they don't.

Please let me know your thoughts on this. I am curious as to know if Drixoral realy helps or if it only in my head, no pun intended Wink

Kindly,

Stephane

PS: I just added this to avoid confusion. I am using the spray pump Drixoral. Not the tablets ones. After reading some more on the product and here is the quote

"Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant. It constricts (shrinks) blood vessels (veins and arteries). This reduces the blood flow to certain areas, which decreases swelling and allows nasal and respiratory (breathing) passages to open up."

So maybe this is what helps... who knows...

Hi Slim, I'm going to move this up to the current treatments board, near the top of the index page. Hopefully you'll get responses there.

I'm may be missing the true point, but I am addressing what seems to be sinus trouble in a similar to ch headache.

Since Feb '06, I have found that the congestion, dripping, tearing up, and sinus feeling is all headache related.  I do use benedryl occasionally, but it is the only oc med I use.

I have had sinus infections and earaches in the past which did feel like this, also.
