med plan seems to be working

There are so many heavy things on the board that I was hesitant to talk about my med plan, but I wanted people to know that something is working. When I found the board in February 06, it was because I had started getting hit every 2 hours at an 8. I didn't think I could make it without help. People here said get a new doc, and I did on 2-25-06. Inderal & maxalt melt for 6 weeks, then 5 mg paxil & maxalt melt for a month, around May 6 - the liquid kudzu & maxalt melt, eventually tried & added red bull. The new doc felt stumped by the every 2 hours thing & referred me to the neuro who thinks it is not ch or cph but has elements of both, & is not in any other category either. His goal was to get me off the maxalt. He prescribed an escalation of neurontin, 1 a day on the first week, 2 a day on 2nd week, etc, up to 9 a day. I'm on week 5. On week 2, my pain tolerance went down as the pain eased a little. My doc prescribed 75 mg time released Indocin twice a day. It helped immediately - not pf but much improved. E-Dub believes this should be tried much earlier than this point. The neurontin dulls me so much that I can't use more than 1 at a time so I have been spacing them throuigh the day. Today, I felt really close to good. I may just be in a low cycle, or the meds may be working. I used only liquid kudzu & neurontin. No maxalt, no indocin, no red bull. As far as I'm concerned, the neuro's goal has been met - no maxalt. I hate that the neuro answered my email of concerns basically with - continue the escalation, see you in 5 weeks. It may only last a day, but I wanted to share that I had a good day. Thanks for all the moral support. Charlotte
