Oxygen Tank Vs. Generator

Hi,

My apologies if this posts twice.   Having issues with the broadband cable around here.

I am in my 6-7 epsisode and feeling a bit more comfortable this time...what to expect and some do's don'ts.    I have the transitional, abortive and prevenatives lined up.

I also have a prescritpion for 02  10-15 liters per minute, humidifier and nonrebreather mask.

I just called the medical supplier....they said at that rate i'll blow through the tanks in less than 20 minutes and suggested an oxygen generator?    Anyone ever heard this?    worth the $450/month?    Am I getting bs'ed?

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Just got a call back from the place with the 02.   A couple clarifications....It is a concentrator not generator. The concentrator can only go up to 10 liters per minute where as tanks I could go up to the 15.

The concentrator is $255/month  and tanks run about 20/tank and $50/month for the regulator......

The concentrator is supposedly oxygen on demand (as long as there is electricity).   The tanks at 15 liters per minute should last 30-40 minutes.

This all sound about right?????????????????

Thanks!

OK Todd...

Please do the math. They want $50/month to rent a regulator you can buy outright for not more than $100--lots less if Mistah Happy is not "chargin' 'em double". Get in touch with him for a deal on a regulator. As for the concentrator, if you get relief at 10 LPM, it *might* not be a bad deal, but there are lots of cheaper more economical alternatives. Like welder's oxygen. Same stuff-you need an adaptor fitting and you can get LARGE tanks for less than the small medical ones. Read up on the pages at left and save yerself some pain in the wallet.

Good luck my friend....Steve(not4hire)

Sounds like "E" tanks, which would take an 870 regulator, but verify this info.  The "oxygen info" link on the left menu has good oxygen info and there are links to names at the bottom.  Mr. Happy had some regulators, mostly for "H" tanks but inquire, he's more than reasonable, or can lead you in the right direction.
The condenser sounds really expensive.  With a regulator bought, you could cut your costs to only the oxygen tanks at $20/per would leave you at much less if these others are working for you in conjunction

Just my opinion but with a bought regulator, the tanks in conjunction with the other meds you have would come in much less than the concentrator, especially using the regulator at 10-12Lpm.

Verify all info and then make a good decision.

Best to you.   Smiley
