I was diagnosed a few years ago and given Maxalt 10mg. Actually I find them to be expensive about $9 a pill but it does seem to work. HOWEVER, you have to take it as soon as the headache comes on or you are doomed. anyone else take maxalt 10mg?

I got some the other day. Took one when a Ch started to hit & the CH still hit a KIP 8. Lasted for 25-30 mins, weather that was the Maxalt kicking in or the headache ending who knows but it didn't seem to work any better than Sumatriptan tablets for me, so its back to the Imigran jabs. Hope they work better fo you though

I do use generic maxalt melt. It works at the beginning over half the time. Not my first line of defense. I may not be a good comparison since my beast is more of a half-sibling to ch. Ch's dad & cph's mom. Charlotte.

Thanks for the responses, Maxalt does work for me but I need to take it as SOON as I feel one coming on. If I take it too late when the Cluster is in full effect too late. Just wondering if anyone else uses Maxalt 10mg here!

Maxalt and O2 are my 1-2 punch when the preventatives have let me down. I usually pop the Maxalt and try to dissolve it while I'm hitting the O2 bottle. One note: The Maxalt MLT and the regular Maxalt pill both take effect in about the same amount of time, contrary to popular belief. The drug itself is not absorbed in the mouth, it is absorbed in the gut. The MLT is simply more convenient, not requiring any water.

I have found maxalt to be the best so far for when an ch comes on. Looking to try imitrex, though.

I still have some Maxalt rapitabs, one of those 10mg tabs you let melt on your tongue. It used to work quite quickly for me, around 7-10 minutes. BUT I did get lots of side effects such as heavy feeling in my throat and chest and about 4 hours after I took it, I felt sleepy. If went to bed, I'd wake up the next morning feeling confused and tired - and get hit soon after. It was my life saver for a while, because it did give me less side effects than vermin and worked quicker. But these days I use energy drinks, because they work for me, they work quicker and I get less side effects. I do hope that it keeps on working for you. Best wishes, Sanna
