Oxygen Question

I seem to be having a problem with my insurance co. over oxygen. After ending up in the ER with my first kip 10 in almost 20 years the attending Dr. suggested that it might be a lot cheaper from a welding supply. He seemed reluctant to come right out and recommend that I use welding oxygen but he did make sure that I left with the mask and hose that the ER used. Several people have told me that it is exactly the same, and I have seen that the name of the local supplier for both medical and welding oxygen is the same. Does anyone have any thoughts on using oxygen from a welding supply? Big Guy

Several people here DO precisely that. Its exactly the same O2, Jonny will tell you that it needs to be 100% pure for a proper weld so have no fears on that score. The one thing you mustn't do is tell them you will be using it for any purpose other than welding as they won't sell it to you. Good luck! If you need a regulator check back here, someone will be able to advise you better than I on what you need. Helen

You're welcome, we just want you pain free ASAP so you can get on with your life You might want to have a look at one of these at some point. I can't recommend this masx enough, it means I can abort in as little as 5-7 minutes. This is because you get a 100% seal around your face so you are ONLY breathing o2 - no air gets into the mix. Therefore not only are you getting rid of the pain quicker but you're being economical with your O2 as well.. everyone's a winner! Take care Helen

Hi big_guy. I use welders oxygen. You're going to need a 540 regulator with your tank. You can find them on e-bay. I was told to not say that it's for medical use, and to ask for 100% pure oxygen. I sent my husband, so if they asked any welder type questions I wouldn't stand there speechless, LOL. PM Jonny, or SeanC for more info if you need it. pain free wishes, nani
