Mixing of Triptans

Can someone explain mixing of triptans.  I have read where this is not recommended.  For example,  I took Maxalt and it had no effect.  I waited the recommended 2 hours.  Is ok to take an inejection at that point?

It is recommended not to mix within 24 hours

Maxalt never did anything for me but I did like the fact that the tablet I had was quick dissolve (I have issues taking pills anyhow)

I'm not sure about mixing the Maxalt with Imitrex, which I'm assuming is the injection you are talking about.
Hope someone else can help

I was given both meds that were mentioned. When the maxalt didn't work I waited a while, not 2 hours, then took an injection.
My Doc was pretty pissed but I hate pain.

imitrex, zomig, axert, relpax, frova, amerge are all considered triptans and are in the same family class.  For example If you take Imitrex and it does or doesn't work you can take more imitrex latter in the day but you can not take any other triptan for at least 24 hours.  It can cause stroke or heart attack.  It is a serious no no to do.  Please be careful.  I hope I explained this well enough.  Any other questions feel free to pm me.
