Benedryl works! TRY IT!

My wife has suffered for years with chronic CHs. Brutal and unrelenting....until a friend told her that Benedryl helped her children get a good nights sleep because it alters the REM sleep pattern. Since she almost always got her CH between 1-2AM, (which is the REM cycle of sleep), she tried it. BINGO!  10 days....no headache!!!
This was no fluke...she would get hit with a CH almost every night!

If you are getting killed with CHs (at night) , please try this. Regular 'ol 25 mg Benedryl. Take it about 30 minutes before you go to bed or feel any twinges or "shadows"... any drugstore or market.  Believe me, we had tried everything.
Let us know if it works for you....riddy419@comcast.net

Benedryl comes in many OTC products but it is not going to end a cycle. Not a chronic cycle, not an episodic cycle.

Benedryl is my sleep-aid of choice whether I'm in a CH cycle or not.  But for me, it only helps get back to sleep after a hit.  It has never kept a nighttime hit from occuring. Undecided

The trouble with CH is that something that works for some people will not work for all.  I'm very glad you folks found something that works for you.

I've tried it.  In my experience, it doesn't do diddly.

Best wishes,

George

When I'm getting hit very quickly after going to sleep, it helps me get 3-4 hours of sleep before it wears off & I get hit again... It's great that she's lucky enough to only have one hit a night and it's in that 3-4 hour window after going to bed.

I use benedryl occasionally for my allergies.  I can take 3 and not get drowsy.

I haven't noticed it helping with ch, but it hasn't hurt me, either.

Congrats to your wife .. and many Blessings that she has found something to help her CH's.

I take an Anthistamine Capsuls that contains Benadryl for my Allergies, taking several capsuls, several times per week, and it has done absolutely nothing to break or stop this 7 month Cluster Cycle.

Like George said, some things that will work for one person, may not work for anyone else.

But once again I am glad that it is working for your wife and I will Pray that it continue to work..

Peace & Blessings

My Doc gave me this stuff saying it was like Benadryl.
50 mg tablets of Seroquel. It works,, except that it turns me into a zombie. It kicks my ass so bad that I don't take it unless I am having a really bad time of it.

I too love benadryl, or the active ingredient dyphenhydramine, also found in generic allergy meds and tylonol PM.
The sleep aid is good, I mix it with Melatonin.  The nice thing about the allergy med is that if you do get hit, it reduces the watery eye and the runny nose.

Melatonin - $8
Generic Allergy med - $4
Not having to blow my nose whilst getting cornholed - Priceless!
