Yes, I do DHE all the time. It does work for me. It's strange that you did not respond to DHE. I think most clusterheads would. Sorry it didn't work for you. If you don't know much about DHE ... and it's a drug you'll be taking, I suggest you do your research. This is a powerful drug. Never mix with Triptans Never take more than 1 mg of DHE at a time Never take more than 2 mg of DHE per day Never take more than 6 mg of DHE per week Always make sure you check your blood pressure after taking You should probably do this several times at the hospital before ever considering doing this IM at home. Did you catch the mistake with the rx of Prednisone or did a pharamcists point it out ? ( Just curious ) Glad you caught it. It probably wouldn't have caused serious damage but you probably would've noticed lots of side effects quickly. I've also done lots of steroids of all kinds. It's not a drug you want to be on very much. It can also cause serious side effects. Goodluck UNsolved

Was that caused by the Prednisone ? Did you take a triple dose ? If so, how much did you take ? UNsolved

| I did that years ago as well. It sucks and it's a shame that some doctors do not write out the directions in a salient manner

Wow That is a pretty hefty dose. I've never heard of anyone doing 180mg of Prednisone in one day before. I've seen people do 100mg a day though. Glad to hear it didn't do any serious damage and you made it home okay. I think I'd RIP the doc who wrote that prescription. The pharamist should have known better right away and not let you get that dose. This also proves that doctors are just human too and make mistakes just like everyone else does. You can't always rely 100% on what they say. Try to research the drugs you take before you take them. This message board is a good place to ask questions about headache medications. So I guess you got your directions straightened out .. Are you still taking Prednisone and what are the directions now ?? UNsolved

I have used DHE IV unfortunately it took 12 days at Diamond Headache clinic to prove effective. I have went to the emergency room and literally told them how to treat me. Two hours of DHE IV, Oxygen , Benydryl, protonix and when that didn't work Dillaudid, after several hours of screaming. Sometimes, unfortunately, even the most effective medicine DOES not work. I am going to a pain specialist at the end of this month to see if he can help. Good luck and don't lose hope.

DHE is really the only med that really stops the headaches that I've used and I've used most of them. It seems to take longer to take effect if used on a daily basis. As others have mentioned, you shouldn't take it for more than 6 days in a row, although I've done it. When you get headaches every night and nothing else seems to help, you don't have a lot of choice. Rich
