sclerotium

I currently seem to be successfully aborting my cycle (they tend to strike every other year, lasting 2-4 wks), with a fairly muscular prednisone taper and verapamil, but I'd be far happier if I could preempt the cycles and the medication with a dose of mushrooms, which I did a few times in graduate school with no regrets.  From the clusterbusters website, it seems like sclerotium are the simplest, most reliable way to go.  But I had a few questions that I'm hoping someone can answer.  Do sclerotium store well (do they need to be "dried" or anything)?  I'd like to grow them now and have them ready to use in a year or two.  Any advice related to my situation would be greatly appreciated.

Doc - I suggest you go to clusterbusters.com and read all you can. There won't be any open discussion of such subjects here, I can almost guarantee it.

Doc I assume is talking about a certain kind of sclerotia, (fungus that grows undergound, truffles are an example) that contains psilocybin and psilocin. They are often called "Philosopher's Stones."

Psilocybin and psilocin, of course, are indole-ring hallucinogens that work great to stop cluster headache cycles.

Philosopher's stones are relatively easy to grow, as they do well at room temperature and need little tending. Spores and pre-sterilized bags of growing medium are available for sale at your favorite mycological educational supplier. The stones, I hear, can be dried for storage. The flesh of sclerotia, I'm told, is a little more dense than mushrooms, and may take more time to get completely dry.

A few folks have tried philosopher's stones as a source of medicinal psilocybn with good results. Potency is somewhat lower than with shrooms - as always, determine dosage with caution.

And I hear they don't taste near as good as truffles.

they store quite well.

Sclerotia turn hard as rocks, so they require 'reconstituting' before attempting use, but the retained potency is decent.  I usually put the dried stones in a pill bottle with water the night before and they soak it up and can be sliced or CHopped and put in tea.
