Has anybody on this board ever had that done? What do any of you know about it, or heard about it. I understand the premise, I'm wondering if some of you have knowledge of it or had it done. Thanks, S

I know that Gamma Knife has been brought up here before.  I don't think they're are any regular users here that has had the Gamma Knife procedure.  You may search the board archives

As far as I know, the results from Gamma Knife (As a treatment for cluster headaches) are NOT very promising. I would've already done it if any of the docs would've thought it would help.

I don't know anyone personally that has had the procedure.  My husband had a consult with a neuro-surgeon that does the procedure.  The statistics he gave weren't very encouraging, but one main reason could be because he said the procedure has only been done on about 20 people w/ clusters (gamma knife is typically used for other things like brain tumors, etc).  Of the appr. 20 people w/ CH, there is a 60% success rate.  My husband decided against the procedure b/c it isn't guaranteed and the side effects can be permanent.
While we were in the office, another woman w/ clusters was there.  She had the procedure done a few years ago, and was completely pain free w/ no side effects.  However, after about 2 years, she started to get CH on the other side.  So she was there to set up a time to have the gamma knife done on the other side as well.
The best thing you can do is look into the research, meet face-to-face w/ a neuro-surgeon who has done the procedure, ask tons of question, and make the decision that is best for you.
Good luck!!!!!
