something seems to be working

I have been chronic for 8 years and have been a clusterhead for 22 years. I can abort the things with standard remedys but have never been able to prevent them. Recently I went to the doctor for a very irritated nose (allergies apparently) and he prescribed flonase. The flonase did nothing for my nose but I have not had a CH since I started using it, and that was two months ago. I know that it is a steroid but the dose does not seem to be that great. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Hi Clavers, I cannot comment on it medically but it is great that you stumbled across it and that it halted your CH. There is nothing like being pain free for a change.

Glad to hear you are pain free for now! I have used Flonase, with little success with the allergies. It did give me a bloody nose, which it says it will do over time. I hope it keeps working!! Dragnlance

glad to hear about the flonase. what dosage are you using? I have some but never thought about it for ch. How long did it take to be effective? I know, just full of questions. But you know how it is, if you don't ask, you don't get. Thanks for info, Louise

I'm glad it's working. I've heard of someone who is triggered by Flonase. I had to use it for a severe sinus infection (that was triggering a 15 minute kip 9 every 30 minutes) and after a few days, the CHs let up. But it wasn't so much the Flonase as it was the fact that the swelling was going way down. Just my 2 cents. pf wishes, nani

I am using the standard squirt thing, I don't know the strength, but I use two shots in each nostril each morning. It started working in just a couple of days. It does not seem possible that there could be enough steroid in a dose, but maybe up the nose is more effective than prednisone pills.
