Since Melatonin allows us some sleep hours. does it cause the beast to skip those attacks, or do you think it just pushes them into the daytime hours. ( as in nowhere to run, nowhere to hide)

| We're all different my friend. Some say that it appears to bring day time hits. Others appear to just be PF. As for me, it did not effect the day only helped during the night. Good luck E

While triptans (imitrex, amerge, etc) might actually increase the number of hits in the long run, I have never heard anyone say this about melatonin. For me (episodic), if I start melatonin before a cycle (but when it seems the beast is trying to get in), then I believe I can avoid the headaches for that cycle. I still feel many of the non-headache symptoms, but atleast am spared most of the pain. But I don't know that anyone can answer that question 100% based on evidence. I don't feel that a headache or a cycle is inevitable - with the right treatment, it can be avoided and health improved - not just postponing it.

I tried Melatonin up to 12mg and it gave me an extra two wake up calls per night which went away when I stopped taking it.

I have the same number of headaches (during the day/early evening) at the same times but the kip level seems to be different. My daytime HAs were worse for a few days and now they are back to normal (for the most part). I am betting that the nighttime HAs are still there but just not as bad and thus I am able to sleep through them on Melatonin. Just my guess about my HAs.

I found that while taking melatonin it seems that it just pushed the headaches into the daytime hours, especially upon awakening. I cut back on the melatonin and the middle of the night hits came back. I found that I would rather get them in the middle of the night, abort, go back to sleep and wake up feeling good rather than have them early in the morning before I start the day. Just my experience.
