Hello All, Third time sufferer, first time poster. Finding this site has been a breath of fresh air. Just hearing of others goig through the pain that I've had over the years helps me to realize that the pain is as bad as I think it is. I feel lucky because I seem to have about 7 years between sessions. This round the GP has given me a script for Zomig ZMT. He gave me some sample pills of Zomig that worked on the ones that I could catch early in the day but once I would awaken at night with one I would just throw them up. When I called he had me get ZMT and told me that they would desolve in my mouth and work faster. ( Not sure why he didn't give me the nasal spray ) 1st - Has anyone had success with the Zomig ZMT. 2nd - Has anyone seen research that the ZMT enters the system faster than the tablet. Thanks in advance, just reading some of the post on the site has brought me comfort.

Welcome to the asylum Brum! I believe Thomas uses the rapidmelt tabs and has good luck with them. If they don't work quickly enough or good enough for you, many here (including me) have found the Nasals work quickly. They worked for me in about 7 minutes. Different people have reported the Zomigs keeping further attacks at bay for anywhere from 10 to 24 hours. I was never lucky enough to get that kind of reprieve. As with any other med - YMMV. I'm not sure they get into your system any faster than the regular pills. There was a thread on that very subject, but I forget when. Try searching this website or using Google to search the net. ORRrrrRRR someone who actually knows will probably be along soon. In the mean time, how long do you usually stay in cycle? What kind of preventative do you use? Have you tried Oxygen?

I've had two other cycles in the past, one at 22, one at 29, and now at 37. From what I recall each cycle lasted about 6 weeks with the middle 3 or 4 being the worst. I'm currently on a tapper of Prednison ( Not very strong compared to others I've seen on here ) and 120mg of Verapamil once daily. Today will be day 5 for the meds. The Zomig ZMT works well on the ones during the day because I can take in at first sign and it will take effect prior to the real pain but the ones at night are full blown before I wake up and it takes way too long to work. I was diagnosed by my GP last cycle but was still in the dark as to what I was up against. Now that I have found this group and all of the experiences and information being shared I am much better informed of what I'm up against and what some of the options are.
