Stress REDUCTION as a trigger

It seems that every cycle has something different about it, something new...a change...be it a new trigger, a different time of year, different time of the day when they happen, etc etc.
 
And all the time I'm trying to think of all of my triggers...I've rather resigned to the fact that I am a CH sufferer and will be...well, forever...and so be it.  But that does NOT mean that I can't use every single little trick I can think of to lower the amount of CH's I get during a cycle.
 
And although things may vary from cycle to cycle...there are some constants.  And one of them, as a trigger, is a relief of stress.
 
Say I'm at work...doing the waiter gig.  Or at school, in my culinary classes.  Or cleaning my apartment, at the parents doing yardwork, washing the car, doing something somewhat physical and time consuming...I'll NEVER get a CH at that point.
 
However...roughly 1/2 an hour after completing the task...once I wind down and am sitting on the couch with a soda (no caffine obviously!!)...that's when it'll hit.
 
Or even when I am stressed out due to something in my life...when that stress eases...and I'm in a cycle...BAM, within 30 minutes...pain.
 
Anyone else?

Yep, had to quit aerobics because of that, I've never had trouble with caffeine though...but winding down from vigorous exercise is a trigger for me, however, some people exercise as a form of relief, so to each his own... we are all different but all the same...  Grin  Grin

First of all buddy...are u sure you have CH's. Have you been to a doctor or neuro? How long have you had these? I see you also have another post on here about allergies. Lets go for one at a tiime to start.  Luke

Welcome to the madhouse. You'll find lots of good ideas here.
 
We're certainly different. Mine disappeared during the most stressful time of my life 13 years ago and my caffeine-laden coffee consumption is ridiculous. Stress seemed to have helped. I was 45 at the time so the age factor is iffy at best.

I've had 'em since roughly 1993, and I can...without a doubt...say that it's CH.  I couldn't even tell ya how many Dr visits I've had.  This is the first time that I've seen any sort of coorelation between allergie medication and CH...so I dunno!  Like I said, every time there is something a little bit different.
 
And I posted twice 'cause I am thinking about all the different triggers that I have...just trying to narrow things down as much as possible.  It's just the way I am  Grin
 
Exercise...ie hard core cardio work does lessen the pain, or occasionally completely cancels it...but that only works when I'm actually having a CH.  But sitting down and relaxing AFTER doing something physical definitely causes one.

 Grin Luke you have read to many of hte dont jump to conclusions posts. hehe
 
Wish it where true for me.  but I get them all the time at work, driving hom (which is very stressful living in Vegas) sitting eating dinner with my kids. Doesn't matter.

I joined this board back in Dec of 2002...I just rarely post.  To be honest...the whole CH thing to me is...damn, how to put this...scary and ultra personal...and embarassing.
 
So, I just pretty much read this when things are "going on" with me and don't post often at all.  But here I am today.  I guess I've just got to vent a little.  I'm not depressed by 'em anymore...just really really annoyed!
 
I'm not sure if resignation to the fact that this is something that happens to me...if that is a good thing or a bad thing...but it's the best way I have of dealing with it.  Crying in the dark, cursing God and my life wasn't getting my anywhere.
 
So now my CH focus is simply triggers...and what I can do to lessen my pain as much as possible when I'm in that cycle...hence my coupla posts.
 
Thanks for all the answers/thoughts!

Ok..next..just askin..and don't take offense.
Do you drink..smoke.?
I dont drink in cycle..kills me.....smoke some while in cycle tho.
How about foods?..think hard...
Maybe you should try just the straight water routine....
stay away froma ll the sugar shit..carbonation...possible caffiene....which to some helps.
Have you thought of O2?
I always cycle.in Feb til about the start of April....so do alot of others.  Just some suggestions buddy...be safe and PF!   luke

No worries at all Luke...I totally hear where you are coming from.  I get kinda "edgy" about this myself...especially when I attempt to tell people about what it is I go through and they say something like "Oh, I get headaches too!".  I seriously want to kick them square in the gonads, stomp on their head a bunch of times and roll them down a hill...all the time yelling "try going through THIS every night!!!"
 
But as far as you trigger list goes...I'm pretty similar.
Alchohol = instant, as in within 10-15 minutes
Smoking = no effect
Caffine = same as a beer, nasty
Chocolate = large amounts get me, small amounts can too sometimes
Dairy (eggs, milk, cheese) = usually a trigger
Water = oddly enough can either prevent OR trigger.  That one is seriously annoying.  Sometimes I'll feel one "brewing" and I'll have a cool glass of water and BAM, it's on.  7-up (not Sprite, not Sierra Mist) can help lessen the attack...which is very odd to me too.
Not eating = that'll cause one for sure
Staying up when my body wants to sleep = guaranteed attack
Physical labor, then rest = usually gets one going
 
So this pretty much boils down to eating lots of food while sitting still and drinking 7-up and going to bed on time.  Not so good for the general body but hell...it seems to work somewhat well for me.  I just gotta spend more time at the gym when I'm outta the cycle.  LOL

Same here. I wait tables, and even if I'm not busy I hardly ever get them at work. But 30 mins to an hour after I'm off work... Get ready! Those are the worst ones.

Seriously, though, the only trigger I've found for me is alcohol. I seem to be able to do everything else I normally do without triggering one.
 
I do have to say that , since starting these in 1995, I've never had one at work. Could be just a coincidence, though, I'm pretty much a evening/night sufferer. Have only had a handful during daylight hours.
 
Get plenty of shadows at work, though.
