Glad this site exists

I was doing everything wrong for the last 5 years. Cut the alchohol out and started drinking lots of H2O(thanks to this board). My eye still hurts from Tuesday night though. The bright side is the last 2 nights have not been nearly as bad.
Still have been getting up on cue at 3 and 7 AM but not nearly as debilitating. Taking Melatonin for the first time tonight. Hope it works. If not I'll ride this cycle out until I find the necessary ingredients to watch the Wizard of OZ to The Dark Side of the Moon. Wish I had diagnosed myself sooner. I can't believe most doctors have not heard of this. I'll post tomorrow on if the Melatonin worked through the night or not.
Thank You All and hope we all have a PF night,
Rob

Way to go Rob. Sounds like your getting your clusters  under some sort of control. Hope you find the right mixture to tame the Beast.

I will be interested to hear how melatonin works for another person trying it for the first time. I gave it a four day run and had to stop ... it had the opposite effect expected. My pain severity increased. Again, not everything works for everybody except O2.

Good luck.

Damn did not knock the beast out. Pain is not to severe though. Enough to wake me out of a nice slumber. Might have to jack the dosage tomrrow night to 6 mg. Or should I take another Melatonin right now?

I just popped another 3mg. See if once this subsides and I get back to sleep it works. Overall tonight it was not nearly as bad. But I'm at the point I don't give a shit. I'll try whatever. Looks like I'm going to brush up on my old Illinois farming skills. Don't miss that cold flat state one bit except for the pizza and I was PF the 29 years I lived there. I'll post in the morning if doubling up put a bigger dent in this prick.

I diddn't see any effects of the melatonin until the second ot third day. Things must be working quickly for you. Try to be patient.

The melatonin will take some days to begin to work during a difficult cycle.  You'll have to experiment on the dosage to find the correct one for you. Take it the same time each night one hour before planned bedtime.  Add B-Complex 50 vitamins say 2 or 3 times per day along with one multi vitamin.

Some people take 5-HTP 50's two or three times during the daylight hours along with the melatonin at night.  If you're taking anti depressants, you can not take 5-HTP. 5-HTP is available at GNC or any vitamin store.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Back again. They're mild. This one being the most mild. This melatonin is going to be the ticket when the beast is not around. I have trouble getting to sleep most nights. I'll pick up sone B vitamins today. Still have hope I can knock this out. Thank you all for the advice and support.

Beerbarge, consider that you might be using TOO MUCH instead of not enough.  0.5mg does it for me.  Your body makes only a miniscule amount.

T H B,

Good point. I have a perpensity to just keep taking more. Personality flaw Grin. I don't have anything better to take right now. It did seem to tame it. But they were more frequent last night. Every damn hour. They were coming twice at night. Usually it was a doozie an hour or so after I fell asleep and then the wake up beast. I've been battling this with no ammo for 5 year's and finally I have a limited arsenal to fight it with. Still working on finding a bag of goodies(would also like a bottle of wine too) to nuke this prick bastard. No more bringing a knife to a gun fight for me Wink
"bag of goodies and a bottle of wine"- name that tune?
Thanks again,
BB

If that's not your usual pattern then it could have been the melatonin.  If melatonin affects your headaches, then finding the right dose might be all you need.  Maybe you could start with a small dose like 0.5mg for a couple of days and increase it in increments of 0.5 or 1mg until you hit the magic number.

Good luck!
