Hey all, I know there are times when we all get tired of the pain and frustrated. I know I do. Now I have someone to look up to and strive to be like. I pray some day I will aquire the strength he already has. He's seven years old. He is my nephew and his name is Ben. Ben has a rare genetic eye disease known as Juvenile retinoschesis. The retina slowly detaches from the eye causing blindness. Ben has slowly been loosing his sight from birth. His right eye has finally stabilized but he can only see movement and shadows. His left eye is worse and gives him constant pain. We had to tell Ben last week that his left eye will have to be removed. Ben has been hoping for a cure so he can play football for the Dallas Cowboys when he grows older. Ben put his head down for awhile. Then he looked up. Instead of seeing despair, anger or sadness, all I saw was determination. He said: "I'll just have to be the first blind quarterback, failing that I"ll just have to settle for being President." I of course burst into tears. He said: "Apple don't worry about me, I'll be just fine. God would never give me more than I can handle. I'm thankful that I've been able to see as much as I have." This from a mere child. So now when things get bad, I think of Ben. If a small child can see only the good, then why can't I. Ben has decided to have his surgery this summer, so he has time to adjust before beginning school again. He doesn't want to miss any school as a President has to have knowledge in order to run the country. Cheers no tears, Juvy

Children are amazing. They dont see life with a closed mind or a heavy heart. I am one the blessed to have brought two into this life. They are my strength and reason I fight the beast so hard. It will never defeat me, because I will not let it take me from them. Thank you Juvy for this... Tia
