Folks Please forgive me for taking up board space with this, but there are people who visit here who haven't found OUCH UK yet. (go to www.clusterheadaches.org.uk) We are having a regional meeting for sufferers and supporters next month, with Manjit Matharu as the speaker (Prof Goadsby's right arm) Wendy -------------------------------------------------------------------- Pasted from the OUCH UK trustees thread: North West Regional Meeting Sunday 7th March The Glaxo Neurological Centre Norton Street Liverpool L3 8LR 10.30 am to 4.30 pm All Cluster Heads (and their supporters/partners) are most welcome. You don't need to be a member of OUCH UK to attend. Cost of this one day meeting is £10 per person, which includes lunch. There will be plenty of time to mix and chat informally to other sufferers and their supporters. Tickets are very much on a 'first come, first served' basis and you must book prior to coming so we can organise the catering etc. Those who have attended a regional meeting before have had the experience of meeting fellow sufferers and supporters and know how rewarding and fulfilling it can be. To those of you who may be feeling apprehensive about walking into a room of 'strangers' then forget them, within minutes you will realise that you are amongst friends, people who know 'how it is' and people who will willingly share their own experience with you, you may even learn something! It's no less valuable to our supporters, we all know we couldn't manage without them, and it's a chance for you to swap experiences and support one another. It's not a day where we wallow in our illness, far from it; I can guarantee you will have a good laugh, an enjoyable day and make new friends and contacts. Dr Manjit Matharu has agreed to come along and give his excellent presentation on Cluster headache research and treatment and will answer any questions you may have. We need as many of you there as possible to support the cause of cluster sufferers in the UK so book your ticket now! The closing date for tickets will be 20th February. If you like to make a weekend of it there will be fund raising event on the evening before 6th March at the Police Headquarters Club in Liverpool (opposite the Albert Dock) tickets are £5 which includes a hot buffet and the entertainment will be a Disco and live band, please come along and support OUCH (UK) it should be a lot of fun. In the first instance contact me here meetings@ouchuk.org giving your name, address, how many places for the meeting, and/or tickets for the Saturday evening 'do' and you will be sent you an information pack with maps and directions, and some details of accommodation available if you request this. Best Wishes, OUCH (UK) Trustees

Sure will! If there is anything new to report, will let you all know. I know already that the programme of ONSI's is stepping up since the feedback we had from QS last year. I may be asking Manjit a question which is bugging me at the moment if I can't get it sorted before then. This confusion for me is why all the triptan dosages are so wildly different but we can still only take 2 of each of any of them in 24 hours (e.g. my Imigran is 20mg and my Zomig 2.5 mg , and there are lots of other dosages and triptans other than these e.g. Frova) Does this mean that if we had subcutaneous versions of all the triptans, would they all do the same job, or are some of them too powerful in effect to be administered like this. Also is this to do with the potency of the triptan or its half-life. Wendy the Brit

Not speaking for them, reporting their words which are open to everyone on the message board to make sure as many Brits as possible know about the get together. This will probably make you fall about laughing Jonny but the trustees call me their American ambassador because I find wandering Brits here and let them know OUCH UK exists (search engines nearly always find CH.com first) and if possible it is good if people have the best of both worlds i.e. here and a group in their own country if it exists. I never got an answer from my question to the last one so I guess there's no point asking any for this one or attending Cat (not you Wendy the guy who was supposed to ask for me)

You going to be there, Wendy? Give my love to a few of them who may still know me... specially Mo and Mob. Just tell them I am getting too old to handle more than one message board at the same time.

Jayne Bet of both worlds then! Born a Brit so you have the right start in life, then living in the Land of the Free! If your ears burn that weekend, don't be surprised as you are a bit of a legend over there after your beg! W
