Does anyone know if there is a link between TMJ (temporomandibular joint (jaw joint) disease/disorder) and CH? I have TMJ on the same side I get my headaches. I asked a DR a while back (he was still diagnosing me with migraines) and he said there was no correlation.

No joke... TMJ by itself is pretty brutal. I feel like sometimes when my TMJ starts acting up a CH is soon to follow making for the most painful mixture I can fathom. I was just thinking that maybe if we could eliminate the TMJ for good we could hope for less (or no more!!!) CHs.

My TMJ was an aggravation in my 20's, but it settled down by the time the clusters started in my 30's. TMJ used to bother me at any time of the year, but the clusters are always the same time of the year (July/August). For me, I don't think there is a connection. Maybe for others.

That brings up an interesting question.... Here it is... Would Jaw surgery start CH? When I had my first CH it was when I was 18... now 35. It was either right before or right after my jaw surgery... I used to have an underbite, they sawed my lower jaw in half on both sides and slid it back and wired my mouth shut for 6 weeks. (great for weight loss) I can not remember which came first though. But they were about 2-3 months apart is all. Occasionally I have the "need" to pop my jaw by pushing on one side. but other than that I have had no discomfort... It was a successful surgery. Just curious Since it was brought up.
