New to forum- and glad to be here!

Just doing a search and I am so happy to see a forum of folks with CH. Im a 29 yr old guy, and started getting CH's four years ago. I have seen that I get them for 4-5 weeks, twice a year (October timeframe and March) consistently. Except for this year... for the past 10 days Ive had them every morning at roughly 5am. This "new" season worries me in that I thought I was "free and clear" until the spring time. Now I have no idea how long this will last.. just have to wait and see and deal with the almost unbearable pain. I cannot take Imitrex due to heart disease in my family history. I did try the sub-q imitrex for a while, and it worked great- but the racing in my heart after taking it was too much. Id rather have the headache than risk heart problems... barely. Just thought I'd say hi.

bsic. Welcome. Sorry to hear you're starting ANOTHER cycle. The only advice I can give is to try O2. Best alternative to Imitrex that I know of. Check with your doc to see if you can take Amerge. It's one of the newer meds out there that works pretty good. PFDAN

Welcome. Sorry you had to find us. Like BM said try and get O2. It is a god send to everyone who can get it. Look to the left for the water treatments and other ideas that might help since imitrex is not an alternative for you.

Threw away your 02 script?????? Isn't that grounds for divorce? Just kidding here, but DO call your Dr. and get another one. 02 is a Godsend for those that can't take Imitrex. LindaH

Welcome .!!! O2 is good! Ramon used to get the rapid heart beat when he used the stat dose pens of Imitrex, but when he got the viles, and only took 1/3 of the dose, it was just as effective, and he didn't get the rapid heart beat. Dont know if that'll help, or if you cant take it regardless... just thought I would mention it. Hope you find something that will work! Sorry you got these bastards! Stick around - you'll get some good info - ideas.. and make a few friends while you're at it!! tina

Welcome to our madhouse. You'll find some good ideas here and some ways to deal with this horror. I like Tina's idea but make sure you check with an MD. You never know. I've been free of CH for a long time but your cycles are just like mine. October and March usually. Others can tell you about medications but this link is to a technique that was very effective for me: http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/ Charlie
